Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled to manage and control the inventory and movement of returnable packaging assets such as pallets, bins, crates, containers, inserts and other reusable packaging materials.

The role will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, tracking asset movement, conducting reconciliation and audits, monitoring asset utilization and ageing, coordinating asset returns, and identifying opportunities to reduce loss and improve asset circulation.

The position will work closely with customers, suppliers, warehouses, logistics partners, finance and operations teams to ensure effective control of returnable packaging assets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Management

- Maintain accurate records of returnable packaging inventory across customers, suppliers, warehouses and other locations.
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly inventory levels.
- Track stock movement, receipts, issues, transfers and returns.
- Identify shortages, excess inventory and idle assets.
- Monitor inventory ageing and ensure timely movement/recovery of assets.
- Maintain inventory accuracy between physical stock and system/MIS records.

1. Returnable Asset Management

- Track pallets, bins, crates, containers, inserts and other returnable packaging assets.
- Monitor the complete movement and lifecycle of assets.
- Maintain customer-wise, supplier-wise and location-wise asset records.
- Track assets issued, received, returned, damaged, lost and under repair.
- Monitor asset utilization and turnaround/cycle time.
- Identify unutilized, misplaced or long-outstanding assets.

1. Inventory Audit & Reconciliation

- Conduct regular physical verification of returnable packaging assets.
- Reconcile physical inventory with system records and customer/supplier statements.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes.
- Prepare variance and reconciliation reports.
- Coordinate with customers and suppliers to resolve asset mismatches.
- Maintain proper documentation of inventory audits and corrective actions.

1. Logistics & Asset Movement Coordination





- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams for movement of returnable packaging.
- Monitor dispatch and receipt of empty packaging.
- Coordinate collection of returnable assets from customer locations.
- Track inter-location transfers and redistribution of assets.
- Follow up on overdue or delayed returns.
- Ensure availability of packaging assets as per operational requirements.

1. MIS & Reporting

Prepare and maintain regular reports covering:
- Customer-wise inventory
- Location-wise inventory
- Asset movement
- Asset ageing
- Asset utilization
- Asset loss/damage
- Asset recovery
- Inventory variance
- Outstanding assets
- Physical vs system reconciliation
- Monthly inventory status
- Analyze data and highlight major variances, risks and improvement areas to management.

1. Customer & Supplier Coordination

- Coordinate with customers and suppliers regarding returnable packaging inventory.
- Share and reconcile asset statements.
- Follow up for pending returns and discrepancies.
- Resolve issues related to shortage, excess, damage, loss and incorrect asset records.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

1. Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and asset utilization.
- Develop better methods for asset tracking and reconciliation.
- Support reduction of asset loss, damage and ageing.
- Improve returnable packaging turnaround time.
- Support implementation of inventory/asset tracking systems and process improvements.
- Standardize inventory control and audit procedures.

1. Compliance & Documentation

- Ensure adherence to company SOPs and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain proper records and documentation related to inventory and asset movement.
- Support internal and customer audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and inventory discrepancies.
