Role & responsibilities

1. System Architecture & Design Ownership

- Own the complete electrical and automation architecture for our parking system product lines control philosophy, I/O architecture, network topology, panel design, drives, sensors, and safety systems.
- Lead the team in producing control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel GA drawings, cable schedules, and I/O lists.
- Define selection standards for PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, encoders, sensors, and field devices, balancing performance, cost, availability, and serviceability.
- Ensure the automation architecture integrates cleanly with the mechanical design and with our software layer (central console, dashboards, and mobile applications).

2. R&D; and Recent Product Development

- Lead the automation R&D; team on new products, upgrades, and next-generation control platforms.
- Drive prototyping, validation, and type testing of control systems before they reach the field.
- Develop and improve PLC logic, HMI screens, SCADA/central monitoring, and motion/positioning control for shuttles, lifts, turntables, and pallet-handling mechanisms.
- Evaluate and introduce new automation technologies, protocols, and platforms, and build the business case for their adoption.

3. Field Deployment & Commissioning

- Lead the field operations team responsible for installation, wiring supervision, commissioning, testing, and handover of systems at customer sites.
- Own site readiness, commissioning plans, test protocols, and acceptance procedures.
- Resolve escalated site issues, lead root-cause analysis on field failures, and feed those learnings back into design.
- Ensure commissioning timelines and quality standards are met across concurrent projects.

4. IoT, Connectivity & Remote Operations

- Define and implement the IoT architecture for connected parking systems edge connectivity, data acquisition, remote monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance.




- Work with the software and IT teams to ensure reliable and secure data flow from machine to cloud to application.
- Build and launch application and platform that enables the system to be operated through a mobile app and also integrate this platform with Service CRM so that speed of service could be made faster to the customer
- Use field data to drive uptime, reduce service calls, and improve product design.

5. Safety, Standards & Compliance

- Own functional and machine safety across the product safety PLCs/relays, interlocks, light curtains, emergency stops, and risk assessment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards for power-driven parking equipment and machinery safety (e.g. EN 14010, ISO 12100, ISO 13849 / IEC 62061), along with relevant Indian electrical standards and statutory approvals.
- Establish and enforce documented industry best practices for design, panel manufacturing, site wiring, testing, and commissioning.

6. Team Leadership & Capability Building

- Build, lead, and mentor engineering teams across both R&D; and field operations and create healthy working interfaces between them.
- Take charge of the existing team, understand ongoing projects and installations in depth, and carry the team forward without disrupting live work.
- Define competency frameworks, training programmes, and career paths for automation engineers and site technicians.
- Create design libraries, standard templates, checklists, and documentation so that quality is repeatable and not person dependent.

7. Vendor, Cost & Project Management

- Manage automation vendors, panel builders,



and OEM partners — technical evaluation, quality, and delivery.
- Drive standardisation and value engineering to reduce bill-of-material cost without compromising reliability.
- Support sales and project teams with technical inputs, feasibility, and customer discussions.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering. M.Tech or equivalent is an advantage.

Experience

- 12–18 years in industrial automation within a machine building, special-purpose machinery, material handling, elevator, crane, or equivalent equipment manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of complete system architecture design, not only programming or panel work.
- Hands-on field commissioning experience — this role will not be effective from the office alone.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams across both design and site functions.

Technical Skills

- PLC programming and architecture (Omron, Delta, Fuji, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta, or equivalent).
- Field wiring and hardware design and architecture.
- HMI development and SCADA / central monitoring systems.
- VFDs, servo drives, motion and positioning control, encoders, and sensor selection.
- Industrial communication protocols — Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, CAN, OPC UA.
- Control panel design, electrical schematics, and CAD tools (EPLAN or equivalent).
- Machine safety, risk assessment, and safety-rated control design.
- IoT/edge connectivity and remote monitoring architectures.

Leadership & Behavioural

- Strong people leadership and the ability to run two very different teams well.
- Structured, standards-driven approach to engineering.
- Willing to travel to sites across India as required and to be hands-on when needed.
- Clear communicator with engineering, production, service, and customer stakeholders.
