Job Summary We are looking for an experienced HR Manager – Plant HR & Industrial Relations (HR & IR) to manage end-to-end HR activities at the manufacturing plant. The role will be responsible for plant HR operations, workforce management, labour law compliance, industrial relations, contract labour management, employee relations, and statutory compliance .
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in a manufacturing/plant environment and be comfortable working closely with plant leadership, employees, workers, contractors, and statutory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant HR Operations
- Manage day-to-day HR operations at the manufacturing plant.
- Handle the complete employee lifecycle including joining, onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and separation.
- Maintain employee records, attendance, leave, manpower and HR documentation.
- Prepare and monitor plant HR MIS and workforce reports.
- Coordinate with Plant Head and functional heads on manpower requirements.
- Industrial Relations & Employee Relations
- Manage day-to-day employee and worker relations at the plant.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, absenteeism and workplace issues.
- Support effective communication between management, employees, workers and supervisors.
- Handle disciplinary proceedings in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Manage interaction with worker representatives/unions, wherever applicable.
- Support resolution of industrial disputes and maintain a positive work environment.
- Labour Law & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour and employment laws.
- Handle statutory compliances related to PF, ESIC, PT, Bonus, Gratuity, Contract Labour and other applicable requirements.
- Maintain statutory registers, records, notices and documentation.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities, consultants and auditors.
- Support labour-law inspections and statutory audits.
- Monitor changes in applicable labour regulations and ensure implementation at the plant.
- Factory & Plant Compliance
- Ensure HR-related compliance with applicable factory and workplace regulations.
- Coordinate with plant administration, safety and other functions on statutory requirements.
- Support implementation of employee welfare, health, safety and workplace policies.
- Ensure required documentation and records are maintained for inspections and audits.
- Contract Labour Management
- Manage contract workers and manpower contractors at the plant.
- Ensure contractor documentation and statutory compliance.
- Monitor contractor manpower, attendance, wages and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors regarding workforce deployment and employee-related issues.
- Ensure compliance requirements relating to contract labour are properly maintained.
- Recruitment & Manpower Planning
- Manage recruitment for plant-level positions including workers, staff, supervisors and managerial roles.
- Prepare manpower requirements in coordination with Plant Head and department heads.
- Ensure timely deployment of manpower based on production requirements.
- Develop and maintain manpower plans and recruitment pipelines.
- Performance & Employee Development
- Coordinate performance management and appraisal processes.
- Identify training and development requirements for plant employees.
- Support skill development and employee capability-building initiatives.
- Coordinate induction and training programs for new employees and workers.
- Payroll & Attendance Coordination
- Coordinate monthly payroll inputs with the payroll/accounts team.
- Monitor attendance, leave, overtime and shift-related data.
- Validate payroll inputs and resolve employee payroll-related queries.
- Monitor overtime and manpower utilization.
- Employee Engagement & Retention
- Drive employee engagement initiatives at the plant.
- Identify employee concerns and work on retention initiatives.
- Conduct regular employee interactions and HR connect activities.
- Monitor absenteeism, attrition and workforce-related trends.
- HR MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare regular HR reports covering:
- Headcount
- Manpower deployment
- Attrition
- Absenteeism
- Overtime
- Recruitment status
- Contract labour
- Employee relations
- Statutory compliance
- Present HR insights and action plans to Plant Head/Management.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in Plant HR / Manufacturing HR / HR & IR.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing/factory/plant environment is mandatory.
- Strong practical knowledge of Labour Laws and Industrial Relations.
- Working knowledge of Factory compliance and statutory requirements.
- Experience handling contract labour and manpower contractors.
- Strong employee relations and grievance-handling skills.
- Experience in disciplinary proceedings and workforce management.
- Good understanding of PF, ESIC, PT, Bonus, Gratuity and other applicable statutory compliances.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and HR MIS.
