NRole Summary

nWe are looking for a Design & Development Engineer with strong upholstery experience to join our Furniture Design & Engineering team in Hosur.

NThe role will focus on developing upholstered furniture products from concept to production, combining design thinking, engineering fundamentals and hands-on knowledge of upholstery construction, materials and manufacturing processes.

NThe ideal candidate should understand how upholstered furniture is designed, engineered, prototyped and mass-manufactured, while working closely with manufacturing, sourcing, quality and other cross-functional teams.

NKey Responsibilities

nProduct Design & Development

N

- Develop upholstered furniture products from concept to production.
N
- Create and refine product designs considering functionality, comfort, aesthetics, durability and manufacturability.
N
- Develop 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
N
- Translate design concepts into production-ready engineering solutions.
N

nUpholstery Engineering

N

n
- Strong understanding of upholstery construction, foam, fabric/leather, webbing, stitching, frames and cushioning systems.
N
- Develop upholstery specifications, construction details and manufacturing methods.
N
- Work on sofas, chairs, beds and other upholstered furniture.
N
- Optimize designs for comfort, durability, material utilization and ease of manufacturing.
N
- Troubleshoot design andproduction issues related to upholstery construction.
N

nPrototyping & Production

N

n
- Work closely withprototype teams to develop and validate new products.
N
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from prototypes and production trials.
N




- Support DFM/DFA and ensure designs are suitable for scalable manufacturing.
N
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvement and standardization.
N

nEngineering Documentation

N

n
- Prepare detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
N
- Develop BOMs, material specifications and engineering documentation.
N
- Coordinate with manufacturing and sourcing teams for material and component requirements.
N
- Maintain design documentation and product specifications.
N

nCross-functional Collaboration

N

n
- Collaborate with Furniture Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, SCM and Operations teams.
N
- Work with suppliers andmanufacturing partners on components, materials and processes.
N
- Support new product launches and ensure smooth transition from development to production.
N

nWhat We're LookingFor

N

n
- 6+ years of experience in Furniture Design & Development / Upholstered Furniture / Product Engineering.
N
- Solid hands-on experience in upholstery product development.
N
- Proficiency in SolidWorks;

AutoCAD knowledge is anadded advantage.

N
- Good understanding of foam, fabric, leather, stitching, webbing, wooden/metal frames and upholstery construction.
N
- Experience in prototyping, DFM, product development and mass manufacturing.
N
- Strong understanding offurniture manufacturing processes and materials.
N
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate concepts into production-ready designs.
N
- Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

nPreferred Background

NCandidates from upholstered furniture, sofas, recliners, beds, seating, furniture manufacturing or related product-development environments would be preferred.
