Role & responsibilities

1.Building Design Self-Sufficiency (Primary Mandate)

- Assess the current state of design capability honestly what is genuinely designed in-house, what isadapted, and what depends on external sources and build a plan to close the gap.
- Establish first-principles design calculation methodologies owned in-house: structural, mechanism,drive, hoisting, bearing, fastener, and fatigue calculations.
- Create an internal library of design standards, calculation templates, standard components, materialspecifications, and design manuals.
- Reduce dependency on external consultants and reference designs progressively, and develop theorganisation's own validated, documented, and defensible designs.
- Build the internal knowledge base and skill depth so that design capability sits with the organisation,not with individuals or outside parties.

2.Mechanical Design Ownership Own the complete mechanical design of all product lines structural steel framework, lifting and traversing mechanisms, shuttles and trolleys, pallets, turntables, drive assemblies, guide systems, Hydraulics and sheet metal and weldments.

Lead concept design, detailed design, GA and fabrication drawings, BOMs, tolerance stack-ups, and GD&T.;

- Ensure designs are validated through calculation and analysis (FEA and hand calculation) before release.
- Own design documentation, revision control, and drawing release discipline.

R&D; and New Product Development Lead R&D; for new parking system products, variants, and next-generation mechanisms.

Drive the full development cycle concept, feasibility, detailed design, prototype, testing, validation, and production release.

Lead physical prototyping and test programmes to prove designs under real load and duty cycles.

Build and protect the organisation's intellectual property through original design work.

Standards, Safety & Compliance





- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards for structures, machinery, and power-driven parking equipment (e.g. IS 800, EN 14010, ISO 12100, and relevant FEM/DIN references for mechanisms and drives).
- Own design-stage risk assessment and safety factors, and ensure safety is engineered in rather than added on.
- Establish design review gates, checklists, and sign-off protocols.

Design for Manufacture, Cost & Standardisation

- Drive standardisation and modularisation across the product range to reduce variety, cost, and lead time.
- Lead design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA) in close coordination with production, fabrication, and supply chain.
- Own value engineering and cost reduction initiatives without compromising reliability or safety.
- Work with vendors on fabricated and bought-out components specifications, drawings, and technical qualification.

Cross-Functional Integration

- Work closely with the automation and electrical team so mechanical and control design develop as one integrated system.
- Support project, production, and site teams with design clarifications, modifications, and site-specific engineering.
- Feed field failures, service data, and customer feedback back into design improvement.
- Provide technical support to sales for feasibility, customisation, and customer discussions.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

- Take over the existing design team, understand every ongoing project in depth,



and carry both the team and the work forward.
- Build, mentor, and grow a design team capable of independent original engineering.
- Define skill development plans, training, and design competency benchmarks.
- Establish and govern CAD/PLM standards, file management, and design data discipline.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. M.Tech in Design or Machine Design is strongly preferred.

Experience

- Experience in mechanical design and R&D; of machinery, material handling equipment, elevators, cranes, special-purpose machines, or heavy fabricated equipment.•Demonstrated experience building or substantially strengthening an in-house design capability.•Track record of taking products from concept through prototype to production.•Proven leadership of design teams.

Technical Skills

- Robust fundamentals in machine design, strength of materials, structural design, mechanisms, anddrive/transmission design.
- Hoisting and lifting systems wire ropes, chains, sheaves, gearboxes, brakes, and safety devices.
- Structural steel design and weldment design; sheet metal design.
- 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or equivalent) and AutoCAD; PDM/PLM systems.
- FEA and structural analysis (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent).
- Fabrication, machining, and assembly processes; GD&T; and tolerance analysis.
- Working knowledge of relevant Indian and international design and safety standards.

Leadership & Behavioural

- Genuine engineering depth able to review and challenge calculations, not only manage.
- Builder's mindset, comfortable creating systems and standards where none exist.
- Rigorous, documentation-driven, and quality-focused.
