We are looking for a senior manufacturing professional who can take end-to-end ownership of our factory operations and drive improvements in productivity, quality, delivery, cost and operational discipline.

Position Summary The General Manager – Operations / Plant Head will be responsible for the overall performance of the manufacturing facility, including Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Dispatch and Shop-floor Operations.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in CNC-based precision manufacturing and demonstrated ability to independently manage a machine shop/factory, lead cross-functional teams, improve operational KPIs and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on plant leadership position, requiring strong shop-floor presence and the ability to convert production plans into measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Plant Operations

- Take end-to-end responsibility for factory operations and manufacturing performance.
- Plan, organize and control day-to-day plant activities to achieve production, quality, delivery and cost targets.
- Establish operational KPIs and review performance regularly.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure effective coordination between Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase, Engineering and Dispatch.

1. Production & CNC Manufacturing

- Lead and optimize operations involving CNC Turning Centres, VMCs and other CNC machining equipment.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machines, tooling and production capacity.
- Improve machine utilization, OEE, throughput, cycle time and productivity.
- Review production processes and identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.
- Ensure proper planning of tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, machine loading and manpower allocation.
- Monitor production against daily, weekly and monthly plans.

1. PPC & Delivery

- Lead the Production Planning & Control function and ensure realistic production schedules.
- Align production capacity with customer requirements and delivery commitments.
- Monitor plan vs. actual production, WIP, pending orders and bottlenecks.
- Improve production flow and reduce waiting time, WIP and manufacturing lead time.




- Coordinate with Sales, Purchase and Stores to ensure uninterrupted production.

1. Quality & Process Improvement

- Drive reduction in rejection, rework, customer complaints and process variation.
- Work closely with Quality to strengthen process controls and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 systems and documented manufacturing processes.
- Promote Poka-Yoke, 7 QC tools, CAPA, 5 Why and Fishbone analysis where applicable.
- Establish a strong culture of first-time-right manufacturing.

1. Maintenance & Machine Reliability

- Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance of CNC machines and plant equipment.
- Reduce machine breakdowns, unplanned downtime and maintenance-related production losses.
- Monitor machine availability and maintenance KPIs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for critical spares, AMC and machine servicing.

1. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

- Drive implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Identify and eliminate waste related to motion, waiting, over-processing, defects, inventory and downtime.
- Improve overall OEE, productivity and manufacturing cost.
- Develop measurable improvement projects with defined targets and timelines.

1. Cost & Operational Efficiency

- Take ownership of manufacturing cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor material utilization, tooling cost, overtime, consumables, machine-hour cost and rejection cost.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity without compromising quality.
- Prepare and monitor operational budgets in coordination with management.

1. Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor and develop Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance and Shop-floor teams.
- Establish clear responsibilities, targets and performance metrics.
- Build a culture of discipline, accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
- Identify training requirements and develop technical and supervisory capabilities within the team.

1. Safety, Compliance & Systems

- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, statutory and environmental requirements.
- Maintain high standards of shop-floor safety and housekeeping.
- Ensure proper implementation of SOPs, work instructions and operational controls.
- Support management during audits, inspections and certification activities.

Candidate Profile We are looking for a senior manufacturing leader, not only a production supervisor.

Mandatory Requirements





- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 12–20+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing/plant operations, preferably with significant experience in a leadership role.
- Strong experience in CNC machine-based manufacturing / precision engineering.
- Proven experience managing a machine shop, production facility or manufacturing plant.
- Hands-on knowledge of:

- CNC Turning Centres

- VMCs

- Machining processes

- Cutting tools and tooling

- Fixtures

- Production methods

- Machine capacity planning
- Strong understanding of PPC, OEE, productivity, quality and cost control.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and TPM.
- Experience managing and developing multi-functional manufacturing teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to maintain a strong shop-floor presence.
