HK DataCrest is a data and AI engineering company in Ahmedabad. We build production software for businesses in India and the United States - data platforms, AI automation, business intelligence, and warehouse engineering on Snowflake, dbt and BigQuery. Our own product, Data Dock, is a natural-language interface for data warehouses, currently in private beta.

We are small. You would work directly with the founder, daily.

WHAT THIS INTERNSHIP IS

Six months to turn project experience into production experience.

Most people applying for Gen AI roles right now have built the same thing: LangChain, an API key, a vector store, a Streamlit front end. It is a good place to start and it is not enough. What separates it from production work is what happens when the retrieval returns the wrong chunk, the API times out, the input is malformed, or the query that was fast on a thousand rows is not rapid on a million.

That gap is what these six months are for.

WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO

Build and maintain FastAPI services - real endpoints, real schemas, in production.

Work on RAG and agent pipelines: chunking, retrieval, evaluation, and the failure paths.

Write SQL against real data, not toy tables. Understand what a query plan is telling you.

Have every line of your code reviewed, and argue about it.

Inherit and extend code you did not write. This is the part personal projects cannot teach, and it is most of the value here.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Python you have written yourself, outside coursework and outside tutorials. A public repository, a gist, anything we can read.

Enough SQL to write a JOIN and a GROUP BY without looking it up.

Some exposure to LLM work - RAG, agents, prompting, embeddings. Depth is not expected. Curiosity about why things break is.

Willingness to be told your code is wrong, and to fix it without taking it personally.





Based in Ahmedabad, able to work on-site five days a week.

No specific degree required. We do not care where you studied.

WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A portfolio of tutorial projects with nothing of your own in them.

Certificates. We will not read them.

Someone looking for remote or part-time work. This role is neither.

STIPEND AND WHAT COMES AFTER

Rs 5,000 per month, paid monthly, for six months.

We will be straight with you: that is an internship stipend, not a salary. If you have a full-time offer at a real wage, take it - we would rather say that plainly than have you turn one down for this. What this is worth is six months of production experience, code review from someone who will not go easy on you, and a genuine conversation about a full-time role at the end.

No promise of employment is made by this posting and none should be read into it. Whether a role follows depends entirely on your work.

HOW WE HIRE

1. Apply with your CV and answer the screening questions.
2. A short call if the answers are strong.
3. An in-person technical interview at our office in Ahmedabad. You will share your screen, open your own code, and walk us through it. Expect to be asked to make a small change live. Bring a laptop.
4. A decision within three working days of the interview.
