Head – Finance & Controllership

About the Role

Melbro Engineering is a fast-growing, first-generation promoter-led engineering business with revenues of approximately ₹600 crore and healthy profitability. Following a recent investment by a group of equity investors, the company is entering its next phase of growth and professionalisation.

We are looking for a Chartered Accountant with strong Finance Controllership experience to lead the finance function and build a robust, scalable and professionally governed finance organisation.

The role will work closely with the promoters, investors and senior management and will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, reporting, governance and business finance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Controllership

- Lead the overall finance controllership function, including accounting, financial reporting, taxation, audit and compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Strengthen financial controls, processes, policies and governance.
- Lead statutory, internal and tax audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations and corporate laws.

MIS & Business Finance

- Develop robust MIS and management reporting for promoters and investors.
- Provide insights on revenue, margins, costs, profitability and working capital.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Partner with business leaders to improve financial discipline and decision-making.

Working Capital & Cash Management

- Drive effective management of receivables, inventory and payables.
- Improve cash-flow visibility and working-capital efficiency.
- Partner with commercial and business teams on collections and credit management.

Investor & Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with promoters and equity investors on financial reporting and reviews.




- Manage investor information requirements and financial diligence.
- Establish governance and reporting standards expected of an institutionally funded organisation.

Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
- Establish clear roles, accountability and performance standards.
- Build a solid second line within the finance function.

Finance Transformation

- Professionalise and scale the finance function in line with the company's growth plans.
- Identify opportunities for automation and digitisation of finance processes.
- Strengthen ERP, MIS and internal control systems.
- Support the transition from a promoter-led organisation to a more professionally managed and institutionally governed business.

Candidate Profile

- Chartered Accountant (CA) – mandatory.
- 12–18 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong background in Finance Controllership / Financial Accounting / Corporate Finance.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a finance team.
- Experience in a mid-sized manufacturing, engineering, industrial or project-oriented organisation preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting, taxation, audit, internal controls and working capital.
- Experience working with promoters, PE/institutional investors or other investment stakeholders would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in building processes and professionalising finance functions.
- Strong MIS, analytical and business-partnering capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate would be a hands-on Finance Controller / Head of Finance who has worked in a ₹300–1,000 crore organisation and has experience beyond traditional accounting, including controllership, MIS, working capital, business finance and finance transformation.

Experience of working in a promoter-led business that has recently raised institutional/equity capital would be particularly relevant.
