Naruvi Hospitals is seeking a skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Psychiatry Department. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients across a broad range of mental health and psychiatric conditions. The consultant will work closely with psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, neurologists, physicians, paediatricians, emergency medicine specialists, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of psychiatric and mental health conditions in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and consultation-liaison settings.

Assess and manage conditions including:

Depressive disorders

Anxiety and stress-related disorders

Bipolar and related disorders

Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders

Trauma- and stressor-related disorders

Personality disorders

Substance use and addictive disorders

Sleep and behavioural disorders

Somatic symptom and related disorders

Neurodevelopmental and behavioural disorders, where appropriate

Psychiatric conditions associated with neurological and medical illnesses

Geriatric psychiatric conditions

Child and adolescent psychiatric conditions, where within the consultant's training and scope of practice

Acute psychiatric presentations and behavioural emergencies

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including detailed mental status examinations and risk assessments.

Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating pharmacological, psychological, behavioural, and psychosocial interventions as appropriate.

Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, assessing therapeutic response,



adverse effects, drug interactions, and treatment adherence.

Assess and manage patients presenting with suicidal ideation, self-harm risk, aggression, acute behavioural disturbance, and other psychiatric emergencies.

Provide consultation-liaison psychiatric services for patients with medical, surgical, neurological, and other physical health conditions.

Coordinate with clinical psychologists, counsellors, psychiatric nurses, social workers, and other allied healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.

Provide appropriate psychotherapy-based interventions and/or coordinate psychological therapies with qualified mental health professionals.

Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication, prognosis, relapse prevention, and ongoing mental healthcare.

Monitor treatment progress and modify management plans based on clinical response and changing patient needs.

Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical reviews, and discharge planning.

Provide psychiatric assessments for inpatient admissions, emergency presentations, and referrals from other specialties.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, including assessment findings, treatment plans, risk assessments, medication records, and follow-up plans.

Participate in emergency psychiatric services, on-call duties, and departmental activities as per hospital requirements.





Promote patient safety, confidentiality, informed consent, ethical clinical practice, and compliance with hospital policies and applicable medical standards.

Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, and continuing career development activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

MD/DNB in Psychiatry or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification.

Valid Medical Council registration.

Fellowship, advanced training, or additional qualification in areas such as addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, psychotherapy, or other relevant subspecialties will be an advantage.

Experience

Minimum: Fresher

Maximum: 5 years

Experience in the assessment and management of a broad range of psychiatric disorders is preferred.

Experience in managing acute psychiatric presentations, psychiatric emergencies, and inpatient psychiatric care will be an advantage.

Experience in psychopharmacology and monitoring of psychiatric medications is desirable.

Experience in consultation-liaison psychiatry and managing psychiatric comorbidities in medically ill patients will be an advantage.

Exposure to substance use disorders, suicide risk assessment, and crisis intervention is desirable.

Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary mental healthcare team is preferred.

Work Schedule

Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts

Working Hours: 9 hours per day

Working Days: 6 days per week

Additional Duties: Participation in emergency psychiatric services, inpatient reviews, consultation-liaison services, and on-call duties as per departmental roster.

Pay: ₹1,440,000.00 - ₹1,600,000.00 per year
