Job Summary

Penguin Apparels (P) Ltd, a leading garment manufacturing and export company based in Madurai, is looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to independently manage and supervise the day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the company.

The Accounts Manager will lead the accounts team and will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting, timely statutory compliance, proper financial controls, banking coordination, reconciliations, MIS reporting and smooth month-end/year-end closure.

We are looking for a hands-on professional who is comfortable managing both the accounting team and detailed transactions rather than only performing a supervisory role.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and supervise the overall accounts function and the accounts team.
- Ensure accurate and timely accounting of purchases, expenses, payments, receipts, journal entries and other transactions.
- Review accounts payable and ensure vendor payments are properly verified, approved and processed on time.
- Monitor accounts receivable and coordinate outstanding collections and customer reconciliations.
- Review bank transactions and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate with banks for working capital facilities, export-related transactions and other banking requirements.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare periodic fund-position reports for management.
- Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Review GST input credits, GST reconciliations and statutory returns.
- Review TDS deductions, payments and returns.
- Supervise payroll-related accounting and statutory accounting entries.




- Ensure proper maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger, vendor, customer and inter-unit accounts.
- Carry out monthly closing of books and prepare monthly financial statements and MIS reports.
- Analyse expenses, variances and unusual transactions and report them to management.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants and other professionals.
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements, audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Monitor fixed assets, advances, deposits, provisions and other balance-sheet accounts.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and ensure accounting procedures are consistently followed across the organisation.
- Review ERP entries and ensure accounting data in Odoo ERP is accurate and complete.
- Coordinate with purchase, HR, stores, merchandising, export/import and factory teams for accounting-related matters.
- Support the Director – Finance with financial information, reports and analysis required for management decisions.

Candidate Profile Education: B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter or equivalent qualification.

Experience: Preferably 8–15 years of accounting experience, including experience in independently handling or supervising an accounts department.

Experience in a manufacturing, garment,



textile or export-oriented organisation will be strongly preferred.

The candidate should have valuable practical knowledge of GST, TDS, accounting standards, statutory compliance, banking, audits and finalisation of accounts.

Experience working with ERP systems is essential. Knowledge of Odoo ERP will be an added advantage.

What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate should be hands-on, disciplined and detail-oriented, with the ability to take complete ownership of the accounts department. The role requires someone who can both manage a team and personally review transactions, reconciliations and statutory compliances when required.

Candidates who have managed accounts in a medium or large manufacturing organisation and are accustomed to working with multiple factories, high transaction volumes and statutory deadlines will be preferred.

Work Location: Madurai – work from office.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and current compensation.
