Position Summary The COO will be responsible for end-to-end operational leadership of the organization — encompassing scrap procurement, smelting/refining operations, production planning, quality control, supply chain, sales execution, cost management, and regulatory/environmental compliance. The role demands a strong balance of strategic vision and hands-on operational control to ensure profitable scale-up while maintaining cost leadership in a highly cyclical, commodity-driven industry.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Leadership

- Translate company's growth vision into an actionable operating plan to scale beyond ₹1,500 Cr turnover
- Partner with CEO/MD and Board on capacity expansion, capital investment, and backward integration
- Own annual budgeting, operating plans, and P&L; across business units/plants
- Evaluate expansion opportunities — M&A;, JV, greenfield/brownfield projects

Procurement & Raw Material (Scrap) Sourcing

- Oversee domestic and international copper scrap sourcing (ISRI grades), ensuring consistent, cost-effective supply
- Manage scrap dealer, import agent, and global supplier relationships; monitor LME price trends and hedge raw material risk
- Strengthen import operations — customs, DGFT compliance, duty optimization schemes

Manufacturing & Production Operations

- Own end-to-end operations — smelting, refining, casting, rolling, wire drawing — across all plants
- Drive productivity, capacity utilization, yield improvement, and reduction of melting/process losses
- Implement Lean/TPM/Six Sigma practices; control energy and power cost per MT

Quality, Technology & Process Improvement

- Ensure product quality meets purity standards (99.9%+ cathode/rod) and export/BIS certifications
- Drive technology upgrades (induction furnaces, continuous casting, rod mills)
- Institutionalize QC systems and ISO certifications (9001/14001/45001)





Supply Chain & Logistics

- Optimize inbound scrap logistics and outbound finished goods distribution
- Manage inventory (scrap, WIP, finished goods) to balance working capital with production continuity
- Strengthen warehousing, port operations, and freight cost efficiency

Sales & Commercial Alignment

- Support sales leadership in strengthening distribution across wire & cable, EV, electrical, construction sectors
- Align production planning with order book/sales forecasts to minimize inventory holding

Financial & Cost Management

- Own operational P&L; drive cost per MT reduction (raw material, conversion, power, logistics)
- Work with CFO on working capital management and LME/forex hedging strategies

Compliance, EHS & Regulatory

- Ensure compliance with CPCB/SPCB norms, Hazardous Waste Management Rules, EPR regulations
- Drive solid safety culture across plants (furnace operations, material handling)
- Ensure compliance with customs, GST, DGFT, and factory/labor laws

People Leadership & Organization Building

- Build and mentor second-line leadership across plants and functions
- Drive performance-driven culture and productivity-linked incentive structures
- Strengthen SOPs, ERP/SAP systems, and MIS/reporting across units

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong P&L; and operations management acumen in a commodity-driven business
- Deep understanding of copper scrap grading, smelting technology, and yield optimization
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on shop-floor operational capability
- Strong negotiation skills (scrap procurement, vendor, logistics)
- Regulatory and compliance knowledge (environmental, customs, factory laws)
- Team leadership, change management, and organizational building capability
- Data-driven decision making; familiarity with ERP/SAP systems
- Understanding of LME copper pricing mechanisms and forex/commodity risk management.
