Role & responsibilities

Electrical Responsibilities
Inspect and maintain traction motors, alternators, batteries, and electrical control circuits.
Troubleshoot electrical faults in locomotives.
Test wiring, relays, switches, and control panels.
Monitor locomotive electrical performance and rectify issues.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.

Mechanical Responsibilities
Inspect and maintain diesel engines, compressors, brakes, bogies, and couplers.
Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Check lubrication systems and replace worn-out components.
Attend locomotive failures at site and restore equipment.
Conduct mechanical testing after repairs.

Site Coordination
Coordinate with locomotive pilots, maintenance teams, and site engineers.
Prepare maintenance reports and defect logs.




Ensure availability of tools, spares, and consumables.
Follow railway safety procedures and permit systems.

Required Skills
Knowledge of diesel-electric locomotives.
Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
Experience with troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
Understanding of railway maintenance practices.
Familiarity with safety regulations and quality standards.

Typical Qualification
ITI/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Diesel Mechanic, Fitter, or related trade.
Experience in Indian Railways, locomotive sheds, rolling stock maintenance, or railway project sites is highly preferred.
