UI/UX Designer
Mobile Product Design | UX | Prototyping | Design Systems
Location: Aundh, Pune (in office, five days a week)
Experience: 35 years
Employment: Full-time
Yes, we're an AI company. No, AI didn't write our recipes.
Every one of Frep's 8,000+ recipes comes from a real kitchen. We have curated them over time from real people: the kind of recipes people defend with their lives.
We're preserving India's culinary heritage, one family recipe at a time. Most of us take maa ke haath ka khaana for granted, until we move away from home. Frep lets you save those recipes and pass them on, wherever you are. Nobody cooks it quite like your mom, and we won't pretend otherwise. But we can get close enough to bring the memories back.
So where's the AI? In the planning. Most of us lose 30 to 40 minutes a day staring into the fridge, working out aaj khaane mein kya banaye. Frep learns what a household likes and can't eat, tracks the pantry, and plans the week around it. It shows you what you have and what you can make, and pushes whatever's missing straight onto your grocery list. Short on time? There's a whole section of recipes ready in 30 minutes or less.
The result: 30+ minutes back every day and 72% less food wastage, which means less money in the bin too. Then someone has to make all of that feel simple on a phone, for a busy parent at 7 pm with one hand stirring the dal. Thats you!
The Role
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who can turn complex product problems into simple, intuitive experiences.
Think: how do you ask a family of five about allergies, spice levels, and who doesn’t eat onions” this week, and make it feel like a chat, not a form?
You will work directly with the founders and engineers, and you will have a real say in how the product works, not just how it looks. And nobody here will ever ask you to “just make it pop”.
Your Scope of Work
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Designing mobile features from concept to final UI.
- Creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows.
- Improving onboarding, meal planning, pantry, recipe, and grocery experiences.
- Building and maintaining our design system.
- Using analytics and user feedback to identify usability issues.
- Working closely with engineers through implementation.
- Exploring multiple solutions before deciding what should be built.
- Using AI tools for research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and faster execution.
Life at Frep Hum teen log hain: two co-founders and one AI/ML engineer, in a five-seater co-working office in Aundh, Pune. Three seats are taken. The other two are for the people we’re hiring right now.
Everyone sits at one table. Lunch gets shared in the cafeteria, and food opinions get defended loudly. Rahul, one of our co-founders, will defend biryani to the death. He once burnt his mom’s special mutton akhni biryani to a crisp at the bottom, then served it to the family as “smoked mutton akhni biryani”. We call that product thinking.
- Frep is a Singapore-registered company, built in Aundh, with co-founders across Pune and Singapore.
- We’re in beta testing now and gearing up for a full launch soon. Join now and you’re here for launch day.
- Here, not using AI is the red flag. We use it across everything, and we expect you to use it to explore, wireframe, and prototype faster than you ever have.
- We’re bootstrapped today and getting ready to raise funding to take Frep across India and beyond. Every rupee is spent carefully, and every hire changes the company. Prove yourself here and you’re part of the founding team, with all the room to grow that comes with it.
What We Are Really Looking For We care about six things:
1. You can simplify complicated product problems.
2. You think about user behaviour, not just visual design.
3. You can clearly explain and defend your design decisions.
4. You have strong attention to detail.
5. You are comfortable challenging an idea when you see a better solution.
6.
You have excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Strong English communication is non-negotiable.
What Helps
You should ideally have
- 3–5 years of UI/UX or product design experience.
- Strong Figma skills.
- Experience designing mobile products that shipped to real users.
- Good knowledge of user flows, information hierarchy, interaction design, and prototyping.
- Experience building or maintaining a design system.
- Experience working closely with developers.
Using AI tools for design, wireframes, and prototypes is not optional here. Experience with consumer apps, AI products, personalization, food, health, or data-heavy products is useful, but not required.
Your Portfolio Matters
We want to see more than polished screens.
Show us how you think:
- What problem were you solving?
- What options did you consider?
- Why did you choose the final direction?
- What did you personally own?
- What happened after it shipped?
One strong case study beats a portfolio full of pretty screens with no story. Pretty screens are nice. We just can’t eat them.
How We Hire
1. Apply on Naukri with your portfolio link, or through our careers page.
2. A 45-minute video call with a founder, walking through your portfolio.
3. A take-home design problem: four days to do it, about 3–4 hours of work. AI tools welcome.
4. A final video call where two of us go through your work with you. It’s a two-way street: you see how we think as much as we see how you work.
5. If it’s a fit on both sides, we make you an offer.
You will hear from us within a week at every step.
Location
This is a full time, in-office position in Aundh, Pune.
The team works from the office five days a week.
If you are based outside Pune, you should be willing to relocate.
How to Apply
Apply on Naukri with your resume, and include a link to your portfolio. Applications without a portfolio link cannot be reviewed.
Optional: you can also apply through our careers page at www.frep.ai/careers, where you will find more about Frep, the team, and how we work.
We care about visual quality. We care even more about how you think, communicate, and solve problems.
