Job Purpose
We are looking for a technically capable and service-oriented System Administrator to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and support the IT infrastructure and technology-enabled operations across JKKN Institutions.
The role will have primary responsibility for computer systems, networking, CCTV surveillance systems, hardware, peripherals, software support, connectivity, and other institutional technology requirements . The System Administrator will also provide timely technical and administrative assistance for the smooth functioning of colleges, offices, laboratories, classrooms, hostels, and other institutional facilities.
The position requires a hands-on, multitasking, problem-solving approach , with the ability to respond to both planned and immediate technology-related requirements across the Institutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Computer Maintenance
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, workstations, and other IT equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Maintain operating systems, applications, drivers, antivirus, and other required software.
- Troubleshoot issues related to printers, scanners, projectors, biometric devices, and other peripherals.
- Coordinate repairs and replacement of faulty equipment.
- Maintain an updated inventory of IT hardware and equipment.
1. Network Administration
- Maintain and monitor the institutions LAN, Wi-Fi, internet, switches, routers, and related network infrastructure .
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
- Configure and maintain network devices as required.
- Support network connectivity across classrooms, laboratories, offices, hostels, and other institutional locations.
- Identify network-related problems and coordinate with Internet Service Providers or external technical vendors when required.
- Maintain basic network documentation and infrastructure records.
1. CCTV Surveillance System
- Monitor and maintain the institutions CCTV surveillance infrastructure .
- Ensure cameras, DVR/NVR systems, displays, storage, and related equipment are functioning properly.
- Troubleshoot camera, recording, connectivity, and storage issues.
- Coordinate installation, replacement, relocation, and upgrading of CCTV equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to authorised personnel when CCTV footage is required.
- Maintain records of CCTV equipment and system status.
1. Hardware Peripheral Support
- Provide hands-on technical support for:
- Desktop computers and laptops
- Printers and scanners
- Projectors and displays
- Biometric attendance devices
- UPS and basic power-related IT equipment
- Networking equipment
- CCTV equipment
- Audio-visual equipment
- Other technology-enabled institutional devices
- Assess hardware faults and determine whether repair, replacement, or vendor support is required.
1. IT Helpdesk User Support
- Provide timely technical assistance to faculty, staff, administrators, and other authorised users.
- Attend to IT-related complaints and service requests.
- Diagnose problems and provide appropriate solutions with minimum disruption to institutional operations.
- Maintain records of complaints, resolutions, repairs, and pending issues.
- Escalate complex issues to senior technical personnel or external service providers when necessary.
1. Institutional Technology Support
- Provide technical support for meetings, seminars, conferences, examinations, admission activities, events, presentations, and other institutional programmes .
- Ensure required computers, projectors, internet connectivity, displays, audio-visual systems, and other technical facilities are operational.
- Provide immediate technical support during important institutional activities.
- Assist departments in implementing technology requirements for their operational activities.
1. Software System Support
- Install and configure approved software and applications.
- Support users with basic application-related issues.
- Assist in system updates, security updates, antivirus management, and routine maintenance.
- Support institutional software systems and coordinate with application vendors when technical intervention is required.
- Assist in user account, system access, and device configuration as authorised.
1. Data, Backup Security Support
- Support routine data backup procedures for designated systems.
- Maintain basic IT security practices across institutional systems.
- Monitor systems for common security issues and report potential risks.
- Ensure authorised access to systems and devices.
- Follow institutional policies regarding data confidentiality, access control, and information security.
1. Vendor Service Coordination
- Coordinate with external vendors, service engineers, Internet Service Providers, CCTV vendors, hardware suppliers, and other technical agencies.
- Follow up on service requests, repairs, installations, replacements, and maintenance.
- Verify completed work and report unresolved issues to the concerned authority.
- Maintain service and maintenance records.
1. Inventory Asset Management
- Maintain records of computers, networking equipment, CCTV equipment, peripherals, and other IT assets.
- Track allocation, movement, repair, replacement, and disposal of IT equipment.
- Conduct periodic verification of IT assets.
- Support procurement by providing technical specifications and requirements when requested.
1. Multitasking Institutional Support
As an institution-wide support role,
the System Administrator is expected to be flexible and responsive to the changing operational requirements of JKKN Institutions .
- Provide technical assistance wherever required across the Institutions.
- Support new infrastructure installations, relocations, upgrades, and technology-enabled initiatives.
- Assist administrative teams in technology-related operational requirements.
- Take up additional technical or administrative support responsibilities assigned by the reporting authority.
- Respond promptly to urgent technology-related situations affecting institutional operations.

Qualification Experience
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc . / BCA / MCA / equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Networking, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Networking, Hardware, System Administration, CCTV, or IT Support will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in system administration, networking, hardware maintenance, CCTV maintenance, or institutional IT support is preferred.
Nature of the Role This is a hands-on technical support and institutional administration role , rather than a desk-only System Administrator position.
The person should be prepared to identify the problem, attend to it, coordinate the solution, follow up until closure, and ensure that the technology infrastructure remains available for the smooth functioning of JKKN Institutions.
