– SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER

Location: Project Sites / Office
1. Job Purpose
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and executing interior fit-out projects at site. The role ensures that projects are completed within the planned time, cost, quality and safety standards, while coordinating effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors and internal departments.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Project Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute interior projects as per approved drawings, specifications and project schedules.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly project execution plans.
- Monitor project progress against the agreed timeline.
- Ensure proper sequencing of civil, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, ceiling, flooring, painting, glass, metal and other interior works.
- Identify delays and take corrective action to maintain project schedules.
- Ensure smooth handover of completed areas to the client.
B. Site Supervision
- Supervise day-to-day site activities and ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings.
- Monitor manpower, material availability and equipment requirements.
- Allocate work to site supervisors, contractors and workmen.
- Check measurements and verify completed work.
- Ensure proper workmanship and finishing quality.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify defects or incomplete works.
C. Drawing & Technical Coordination
- Study architectural, interior, civil, MEP and shop drawings before execution.
- Coordinate with the Design/Technical team for drawing clarifications.
- Ensure the latest approved drawings are available at site.
- Identify drawing discrepancies, site constraints and technical issues.
- Coordinate for revisions and ensure approved changes are implemented correctly.
- Prepare or review site measurements, sketches and technical details where required.
D. Client & Consultant Coordination
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects and project representatives.
- Attend site meetings and discuss project progress and technical matters.
- Communicate project requirements and site instructions to the execution team.
- Maintain good qualified relationships with clients and consultants.
- Obtain necessary approvals for materials, samples, mock-ups and completed works.
E. Material & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Purchase, Stores and Production departments for timely availability of materials.
- Check material requirements against project schedules.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for timely delivery and execution.
- Ensure materials used at site meet approved specifications and quality standards.
F. Cost & Quantity Control
- Monitor project quantities and material consumption.
- Verify contractor/subcontractor measurements and bills.
- Support the Project Manager in controlling project costs.
- Identify variations, additional works and scope changes.
- Maintain records of approved and pending variations.
- Minimize rework, wastage and unnecessary expenses.
G. Quality Control
- Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, specifications and company quality standards.
- Inspect workmanship at different stages of execution.
- Identify and rectify defects before client inspection.
- Ensure proper finishing of carpentry, furniture, flooring, ceiling, painting, glass, metal and other interior works.
- Maintain quality inspection and snag-list records.
H. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure workers and subcontractors follow site safety procedures.
- Conduct regular safety checks at the project site.
- Ensure use of appropriate PPE and safe working practices.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents and accidents immediately.
- Ensure compliance with client and company safety requirements.
I. Team Management
- Guide and supervise Site Engineers, Supervisors, Contractors and workmen.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct regular site coordination meetings.
- Support junior engineers in technical and execution-related matters.
- Ensure discipline and proper communication among site teams.

Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily progress reports and weekly project reports.
- Maintain site records, measurements, drawings, approvals and instructions.
- Maintain project schedules and progress trackers.
- Prepare material requirement statements and work status reports.
- Maintain snag lists and closure reports.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager / Project Head.

1. Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of interior fit-out and site execution.
- Good understanding of civil and interior construction activities.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- Good knowledge of BOQ, measurements and quantity verification.
- Strong site coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and team-management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple activities and meet project deadlines.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD and project scheduling tools is preferred.
1. Qualification & Experience
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Interior or related field. Experience: Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience in interior fit-out, retail fit-out, commercial interiors or similar project execution.
