Summary

Kochasoft is looking for a Senior ABAP developer with SAP BTP expertise to review the current RPA estate from the SAP side, and recommend a transition roadmap moving eligible automations to custom ABAP programs/APIs or to SAP Build Process Automation (BPA) — wherever that's a better fit than continuing on third-party RPA.

Key Responsibilities

- Review the existing UiPath and Power Automate automations that touch SAP, focusing on the underlying transactions and business logic each one drives
- For each SAP-facing automation, assess whether it's better served by a custom ABAP program/API (RFC, BAPI, OData/RAP), by SAP Build Process Automation (workflow, RPA, and decisioning on BTP), or left as-is on the existing RPA platform
- Map available released APIs (SAP API Business Hub) and RISE with SAP's side-by-side BTP extensibility options against each candidate process
- Propose a transition roadmap: sequencing, effort estimate, and target (ABAP program, SAP BPA, or no change) per automation
- Coordinate with the Senior RPA Architect workstream so both sides of the assessment land on one consistent, joint recommendation




- Stand up or extend the governed API/BTP extension catalog for whatever gets built

Required Experience

- Senior ABAP with 9+ years of experience, hands-on ABAP development experience (RFC/BAPI, OData services, the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model / RAP)
- Direct SAP BTP experience, including SAP Build Process Automation and side-by-side extensibility (ABAP Setting / “Steampunk”)
- Experience with RISE with SAP's clean-core and extensibility model
- Comfortable assessing and recommending build-vs-buy / platform-fit decisions, not just implementing a given spec
- Able to work alongside an RPA-focused consultant/architect and reconcile both perspectives into one roadmap

Nice to Have

- Familiarity with UiPath and/or Power Automate, enough to read what an existing bot does
- SAP Integration Suite experience
- Prior experience migrating RPA-driven processes onto native SAP automation

Deliverables

- Assessment of SAP-facing RPA automations against ABAP-program / SAP BPA / no-change fit
- A prioritized transition roadmap with sequencing and effort estimates
- A released-API / extensibility gap list, handed to the wider governance catalog
- A joint recommendation, aligned with the RPA Architect engagement, presented to leadership
