ABOUT THE ROLE An Education Trust is looking for a hands-on, growth-oriented Principal to lead an emerging CBSE school in Pathankot (Punjab). The Principal will be responsible for driving academic excellence, staff performance, day-to-day operations, and the expansion of the school and its admissions. The Principal is expected to be visible on campus, close to teachers, students and parents, and personally engaged in building the school’s reputation and enrolment in the Pathankot region, in line with the Trust’s high standards and governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Overall Vision Execution: Drive execution of the vision of the Sri Krishna Education Trust in alignment with the

Trustees Guidance for The Shishya School, Pathankot

● Academic Excellence: Drive the school’s academic vision and delivery — curriculum planning, teaching quality,

classroom observation, assessment practices, and consistently strong student learning outcomes and board results.

● Mentor, coach, and evaluate teachers and coordinators; drive continuous improvement in pedagogy, digital learning, and co-curricular and holistic development programmes.

● Admissions & Growth: Own the school’s admissions and enrolment growth agenda — set annual admission targets and lead the admissions funnel from enquiry, campus visit and counselling to conversion and retention.

● Build the school’s brand and visibility in Pathankot and neighbouring areas through community engagement,

outreach events, school tie-ups, referrals, and parent advocacy, in coordination with the Trust’s marketing and admissions teams.

● People & Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and hold accountable the teaching and non-teaching staff;

participate actively in hiring, onboarding, appraisals, and training in coordination with the Trust’s HR function.

● Build a strong culture: A culture of ownership, discipline, and professionalism.

● Operations & Compliance:



Oversee daily campus operations — timetabling, attendance, discipline, transport,

safety and security, infrastructure, and facilities — ensuring a safe, orderly, and child-friendly environment.

● Ensure full compliance with board affiliation norms (as applicable), statutory and safeguarding requirements,

and the Trust’s policies and SOPs.

● Parent & Community Engagement: Engage with parents and the local community — parent meetings, grievance handling, communication, and building trust and long-term relationships.

● Financial & Governance: In accordance with Trustees guidance & in alignment with the Finance Head at

Bangalore, Manage the school’s budget, fee collection, and cost discipline responsibly; track key metrics

(admissions, enrolment, retention, results, staff attrition) and report to Trust leadership on a regular basis.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

● Strong command of the CBSE and/or Cambridge curriculum, assessment frameworks, affiliation requirements,

and board examination processes.

● Proven ability to lead admissions and marketing-led growth for a school — setting targets, running the enrolment funnel, and converting enquiries into admissions.

● Experience managing a school of scale (500+ students; ~1,000 preferred), including timetabling, staffing, and multi-department coordination.

● Working knowledge of school management systems/ERP, MS Office/Google Workspace, and data-driven reporting on academics and admissions.

● Sound understanding of school safety, child protection,



and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to schools in Punjab.

● Ability to manage school budgets, fee structures, and operating costs with commercial awareness.

● Sound judgement and integrity on confidential and sensitive matters; calm and decisive under pressure.

● Collaborative team player who works well with the Trust’s central teams (Chief of Staff, HR, admissions,

marketing, finance, academics).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

● Postgraduate degree with B.Ed. (or equivalent), as required under CBSE/board norms for the position of Principal; additional leadership or school-management certification is a plus.

● Minimum 3–4 years of experience as a Principal or Vice Principal in a reputed CBSE or Cambridge school.

● The school led should have at least 500 students; experience in a school with ~1,000 students is preferred.

● Demonstrated track record of driving admissions and enrolment growth and expanding a school is strongly preferred.

● Preferred age profile: ~40 years.

● Willingness to be based full time in Pathankot (Punjab).
