TPR Granule Research & Development Executive / Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a TPR Granule Research & Development professional to lead the development, testing, and optimization of TPR granules used in manufacturing applications, particularly for rug, mat, carpet, and other textile backing products.
The candidate will be responsible for developing new TPR formulations, improving existing formulations, conducting material trials, evaluating physical and chemical properties, and working closely with production and quality teams to ensure consistent product performance and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) granule formulations for different product applications.
- Develop and optimize formulations based on required properties such as:
- Flexibility
- Hardness
- Grip / anti-slip performance
- Elasticity
- Durability
- Abrasion resistance
- Temperature resistance
- Bonding/adhesion
- Conduct laboratory trials and material testing for new formulations.
- Identify and evaluate suitable raw materials, polymers, fillers, plasticizers, additives, pigments, and processing aids.
- Optimize formulations to achieve the required product specifications while maintaining target manufacturing cost.
- Conduct trials on production equipment and assist in scale-up from laboratory to commercial production.
- Troubleshoot formulation and processing-related problems during production.
- Study and improve the performance of existing TPR granules.
- Develop formulations for different grades, colours, hardness levels, and application requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of formulations, trials, test results, and modifications.
- Coordinate with the production, quality control, procurement, and product development teams.
- Establish and maintain specifications and testing parameters for incoming raw materials and finished TPR granules.
- Conduct comparative testing of competitor/reference materials and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure consistency of granule quality from batch to batch.
- Assist in developing cost-effective and sustainable formulations.
- Stay updated on new TPR technologies, raw materials, additives, processing techniques, and industry developments.
Key Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of TPR/TPE materials and polymer technology.
- Knowledge of polymer compounding and extrusion processes.
- Understanding of formulation development and material compatibility.
- Knowledge of additives, fillers, plasticizers, pigments, and stabilizers used in TPR formulations.
- Ability to conduct and interpret material testing.
- Understanding of hardness, tensile strength, elongation, abrasion, flexibility, density,
and other relevant properties.
- Knowledge of extrusion, mixing, compounding, and granulation processes.
- Robust troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge of quality-control procedures and documentation.
- Good understanding of production-scale trials and process optimization.
Desired Testing Knowledge Experience with or understanding of tests such as:
- Shore A hardness
- Tensile strength
- Elongation
- Abrasion resistance
- Tear strength
- Specific gravity / density
- Flexibility
- Compression set
- Slip resistance
- Heat and temperature resistance
- Adhesion/bonding performance
- Colour consistency
- Ageing and durability testing
Qualifications
Preferred:
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Polymer Technology, Plastics Technology, Rubber Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Diploma holders with strong practical experience in TPR/TPE compounding may also be considered.
Experience
- 1–5 years of relevant experience in TPR, TPE, rubber, polymer compounding, plastics, or related R&D.;
- Candidates with hands-on experience in TPR granule formulation and extrusion/compounding will be preferred.
- Freshers with strong academic knowledge and relevant laboratory/project experience may also be considered for a junior position.
Salary: As per experience and technical expertise. Note: Candidates with hands-on experience in TPR formulation, compounding, extrusion, and granule development will be given preference.
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
