1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced R&D; qualified to manage product formulation, development, testing, and manufacturing scale-up for our beauty and personal-care product range.

The candidate will be responsible for developing new formulations, improving existing products, conducting laboratory and factory trials, coordinating with Quality Control (QC) and Production teams, and ensuring products meet defined quality, stability, safety, and performance requirements before commercial manufacturing.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Product Formulation & Development

- Develop new formulations for skincare, haircare, cosmetics, and personal-care products.
- Work on product categories such as creams, lotions, serums, face washes, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, gels, and other relevant products.
- Select suitable raw materials, active ingredients, preservatives, emulsifiers, fragrances, and other formulation components.
- Develop formulations based on product briefs, desired performance, target cost, texture, fragrance, and brand positioning.
- Modify existing formulations to improve product quality, stability, sensory properties, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct laboratory trials and maintain formulation records.

B. Factory Trials & Production Scale-Up

- Convert laboratory formulations into commercial-scale manufacturing processes.
- Conduct pilot batches and factory trials before mass production.
- Define manufacturing procedures, mixing sequences, processing temperatures, mixing speeds, and processing times, as applicable.
- Coordinate with the Production team to resolve formulation and manufacturing issues.
- Troubleshoot problems such as separation, viscosity variation, colour changes, foaming, texture inconsistency, and batch-to-batch variation.
- Ensure approved formulations can be reproduced consistently at commercial scale.

C. Stability & Product Testing

- Plan and coordinate stability testing, packaging compatibility testing, and other applicable product evaluations.
- Monitor changes in appearance,



colour, odour, pH, viscosity, and other relevant parameters.
- Coordinate microbiological testing, preservative efficacy testing, and safety assessments with qualified laboratories, where required.
- Analyse trial results and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain product development samples, stability records, and test reports.

D. Raw Material & Ingredient Evaluation

- Evaluate new raw materials and ingredients for suitability in formulations.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Quality teams for raw material specifications and supplier documentation.
- Review relevant technical documents, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), and ingredient specifications.
- Identify alternative ingredients to improve performance, availability, or product cost without compromising quality.
- Establish appropriate raw material specifications in coordination with the Quality team.

E. Production & Quality Coordination

- Work closely with Production, QC, QA, Purchase, Packaging, and NPD teams.
- Investigate formulation-related batch failures, deviations, and customer complaints.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure manufacturing instructions and product specifications are documented and updated.
- Support batch approval and product release processes in coordination with authorised Quality personnel.

F. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

- Prepare and maintain formulation sheets, master manufacturing instructions, product specifications, trial reports, and development records.
- Maintain traceability of formulation revisions and approved product samples.
- Coordinate with the Regulatory/Quality team to ensure applicable cosmetic manufacturing requirements are addressed.
- Support product label review, ingredient declarations, and product claims substantiation.
- Follow applicable safety procedures, laboratory practices,



and factory protocols.

G. Continuous Improvement

- Research new ingredients, formulation technologies, and product innovations.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, product consistency, and formulation cost.
- Support the launch of new products from development through commercial production.
- Investigate recurring production issues and recommend process improvements.

3. Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Technology, or a relevant scientific discipline.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in R&D;/formulation development within cosmetics, skincare, haircare, personal care, or related manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory formulation and factory-scale production trials.
- Practical knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation processes, stability testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Production, QC, and QA teams in a manufacturing facility.
