Position Overview The Engineering & Process Manager – CBG will be responsible for leading process engineering, technology development, plant design, technical proposals, and engineering coordination for Compressed Biogas (CBG) and biogas projects . The role requires strong knowledge of anaerobic digestion, feedstock evaluation, process design, equipment selection, and coordination across engineering, commercial, execution, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Engineering
- Develop process concepts and process design for CBG/biogas plants.
- Evaluate feedstock characteristics, including agricultural residues, press mud, food waste, fruit waste, Napier grass, cattle dung, and other organic substrates.
- Carry out feedstock assessment, biogas yield calculations, organic loading, hydraulic retention time, digester sizing, and mass/energy balances.
- Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs;, process calculations, equipment specifications, and process datasheets.
- Optimize digester configuration, mixing systems, feeding systems, gas handling, and downstream processes.
- Provide technical inputs for plant performance guarantees and commissioning requirements.
2. Engineering Management
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities covering process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil interfaces.
- Review engineering drawings, layouts, equipment specifications, and vendor documents.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, consultants, vendors, EPC partners, and customers.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within project timelines and agreed technical requirements.
3. Technical & Commercial Proposals
- Lead preparation of technical proposals for CBG projects.
- Define technical scope, battery limits, equipment requirements, exclusions, and assumptions.
- Work closely with the commercial team to develop accurate project costing and commercial offers.
- Review customer RFQs, tender documents, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Participate in technical discussions and negotiations with customers and EPC partners.
4. Project & Execution Support
- Provide engineering support during procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, commissioning, and operation.
- Resolve technical issues arising during project execution.
- Review site requirements and support project teams with engineering decisions.
- Participate in commissioning and performance evaluation of CBG plants.
- Analyze plant operating data and recommend process improvements where required.
5. Technology & Process Development
- Continuously evaluate improvements in anaerobic digestion and CBG technologies.
- Develop standardized engineering practices, design parameters, calculation methods, and technical documentation.
- Maintain project learnings and incorporate operational experience into future plant designs.
- Support development of solutions for multi-feedstock CBG plants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline .
- Typically 8–15 years of relevant experience in biogas, CBG, anaerobic digestion, waste-to-energy, process engineering, or related industries.
- Strong practical understanding of anaerobic digestion and CBG plant design.
- Experience with engineering documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs;, equipment datasheets, layouts, and process calculations.
- Experience in handling customers, EPC contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
