Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy enhancements for enterprise-scale PowerBuilder applications.
- Work extensively with
PowerBuilder, DataWindows, NVOs, and PFC architecture
.
- Build and consume
REST/SOAP Web Services and integrate PowerBuilder applications with C#/Java/Node.js services.
- Handle third-party integrations using
OLE/COM, DLLs, and external function calls
.
- Develop and optimize complex
SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions using MS SQL Server/Oracle.
- Perform application and database performance tuning
, including DataWindow optimization and query execution analysis.
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues as a
Tier-3 escalation point
.
- Conduct code reviews, follow coding standards, and improve legacy code through modularization.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Business Analysts in an
Agile/Scrum environment
.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum
5 years of hands-on PowerBuilder development experience
.
- Experience with
Appeon PowerBuilder 2017+
preferred; strong Sybase 12.5+ experience is also acceptable.
- Strong expertise in
PowerBuilder Foundation Class (PFC)
and object-oriented programming.
- Excellent knowledge of relational databases and ability to write/debug complex
T-SQL or PL/SQL
.
- Experience with source control tools such as
Git, SVN, or TFS
.
- Knowledge of PowerBuilder source control integrations such as
PBG files and OrcaScript
.
- Ability to understand and reverse-engineer complex legacy applications.
- Robust communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Good to Have
- Experience with
Appeon PowerServer for web/mobile deployment.
- Knowledge of
C#, Java, or Python
.
- Experience with
CI/CD and automated build pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or PB AutoBuild.
- Domain experience in
Incident Management or Government Process Management
.
