– MAINTENANCE IN-CHARGE
Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Designation: Maintenance In-Charge
Location: Guardian Hospital, Ambala Cantt
Reporting To: Hospital Administrator / Management
Job Summary The Maintenance In-Charge will be responsible for ensuring the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted functioning of the hospital's infrastructure, equipment, utilities, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, civil works, and other essential maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities across the hospital.
- Ensure proper functioning of electrical systems, DG sets, UPS, HVAC/AC systems, plumbing, water supply, lifts, and other hospital utilities.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance and ensure timely corrective maintenance.
- Maintain maintenance schedules, service records, equipment logs, and breakdown reports.
- Coordinate with external vendors, technicians, AMC agencies, and service providers.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and ensure minimum disruption to hospital operations.
- Monitor hospital infrastructure including wards, OPD, OT, ICU, emergency, laboratories, pharmacy, offices, and common areas.
- Ensure timely repair of civil works such as doors, windows, walls, flooring, ceilings, fittings, and fixtures.
- Monitor fire safety systems, emergency equipment, electrical safety, and other safety-related infrastructure in coordination with concerned departments.
- Maintain adequate stock of maintenance materials, spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Verify vendor/service work and ensure work is completed as per requirement.
- Coordinate with administration and department heads regarding maintenance complaints and requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, AMC/CMC, inspections,
and repairs.
- Identify recurring problems and take corrective/preventive measures to minimize breakdowns.
- Ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely without disturbing patient care and hospital operations.
- Support hospital inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements related to engineering and maintenance.
- Ensure housekeeping and maintenance-related infrastructure complaints are attended to promptly.
- Supervise maintenance staff and allocate duties according to hospital requirements.
Accountability
- Availability and functionality of essential hospital utilities.
- Timely resolution of maintenance complaints and breakdowns.
- Preventive maintenance of hospital infrastructure and equipment.
- Proper maintenance records and documentation.
- Vendor and AMC/CMC coordination.
- Safety and reliability of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and other utility systems.
- Minimizing downtime and disruption to hospital services.

Job Specifications Experience: 2–5 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital, healthcare facility, hotel, commercial building, or similar organization.
