Role Overview The Entire Vehicle Engineering Lead will be responsible for the overall vehicle layout, packaging and integration of commercial vehicles. The role will involve developing complete vehicle concepts, ensuring proper positioning and integration of major vehicle components, and coordinating with various engineering teams to resolve design and packaging issues.
The position also involves technical leadership, task management and project coordination, working closely with global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Layout & Packaging
- Develop complete vehicle concepts and base layouts.
- Handle positioning of the cab, engine and major chassis components.
- Manage vehicle packaging and ensure appropriate component clearance and fitment.
- Support overall vehicle weight management.
- Evaluate vehicle concepts based on customer and product requirements.
DMU / Vehicle Integration
- Perform Digital Mock-Up (DMU) checks from an overall vehicle perspective.
- Check component fitment, clearance and interference.
- Identify design issues and propose suitable solutions.
- Coordinate with different engineering functions to resolve design and integration issues.
- Track design status and ensure timely closure of DMU issues.
- Check rear body flexibility and overall vehicle integration.
Vehicle Drawings
- Develop 2D drawings from 3D/DMU data.
- Coordinate preparation of BMD, homologation and CVO-related drawings.
- Work with various design teams to ensure drawing accuracy and timely completion.
Team & Project Management
- Lead and coordinate the Entire Vehicle Engineering team.
- Allocate and monitor engineering tasks.
- Track project deliverables and timelines.
- Monitor and report team/project KPIs.
- Ensure commitments and engineering milestones are met.
- Drive lessons learned and failure management within the team.
Required Technical Experience
- Strong experience in Entire Vehicle Engineering / Vehicle Layout / Vehicle Integration.
- Experience in truck/commercial vehicle development is preferred.
- Strong understanding of vehicle packaging and component positioning.
- Good knowledge of truck chassis and major vehicle components.
- Experience in DMU/3D vehicle integration and interference/clearance checks.
- Understanding of vehicle development processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering and strength of materials.
- Experience with vehicle drafting and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of rear body and electrical systems would be an advantage.
Software Skills
- Experience with 3D engineering tools such as NX, Smaragd or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of BoM systems would be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Leadership Skills
- Team building and people management.

- Ability to manage engineering deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with global engineering teams.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a senior automotive engineer with 10+ years of experience, solid exposure to commercial vehicle/truck engineering, and hands-on experience in entire vehicle layout, packaging, DMU and vehicle integration. The candidate should also have experience leading an engineering team and coordinating with multiple design functions.
