About the Role
Zyeta is looking for an experienced HVAC Design Manager to lead and strengthen HVAC design capabilities across our projects.
This role will be responsible for providing deep technical guidance, reviewing engineering solutions, driving design and cost optimisation, improving design quality, and supporting innovation and standardisation within the HVAC discipline.
The role will also involve working closely with internal teams, clients and consultants on complex technical discussions and presentations.
What You’ll Do
HVAC Design & Technical Expertise
- Review HVAC engineering solutions, calculations, layouts, specifications and design documentation.
- Guide the team on complex HVAC design decisions and technical issues.
- Provide technical direction on challenging design requirements and engineering solutions.
- Review design approaches to ensure they are practical, efficient and aligned with project requirements.
- Support Senior Design Engineers and the wider HVAC team on complex technical matters.
Design & Cost Optimisation
- Develop project-specific value engineering solutions for HVAC systems.
- Explore multiple options for equipment selection and system optimisation.
- Identify opportunities to optimise HVAC systems while maintaining performance, quality and design intent.
- Drive practical and cost-effective engineering solutions across projects.
- Support standardisation and modular approaches that can improve design efficiency and project delivery.
Design Excellence & Innovation
- Drive innovation within the HVAC discipline.
- Develop and promote HVAC design standards, methodologies and best practices.
- Explore modularity and standardisation opportunities across projects.
- Contribute to the development of design philosophies and technical guidelines.
- Encourage the adoption of new technologies and improved engineering practices.
- Share technical knowledge and industry best practices with the design team.
Quality & Compliance
- Own the quality of HVAC design deliverables.
- Ensure HVAC designs comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications and quality requirements.
- Identify design and quality issues and ensure timely closure.
- Work closely with the Mechanical QC Lead to improve design quality and compliance.
- Conduct technical workshops and training programmes in collaboration with the Quality team.
- Help reduce design errors, rework and recurring technical issues through strong review and preventive quality practices.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Participate in important client and consultant discussions related to HVAC design.
- Guide the team in preparing and presenting technical solutions to clients.
- Be part of key technical presentations and design review meetings.
- Support Senior Design Engineers during complex client meetings.
- Explain design solutions, technical recommendations and optimisation options clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Work closely with Architecture, Design, Project Management, Quality and other MEP teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Team Development
- Mentor and guide HVAC Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers.
- Support the team in resolving complex technical challenges.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and technical workshops.
- Build technical capability within the HVAC design team.
- Encourage a culture of quality, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- 13–20 years of relevant experience in HVAC design and engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Solid experience in HVAC design, engineering reviews and technical problem-solving.
- Experience in commercial interiors, workplace, commercial buildings or Design & Build projects is preferred.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment selection and system optimisation.
- Experience in value engineering and design cost optimisation.
- Good understanding of applicable HVAC codes, standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience in design quality management and technical reviews.
- Strong client and consultant interaction skills.
- Ability to lead technical presentations and design discussions.
- Strong communication, collaboration and team management skills.
- Experience in BIM/Revit-based HVAC design would be an added advantage.
