Zinc u0026 Broccoli

Bengaluru

TL;DR: We're hiring an HR Head to run people operations across two companies: Zinc & Broccoli, our ~20-person design studio, and SCPL, our sister print and packaging facility with ~45 people on the production floor. It's a recent role. You'll be the only dedicated HR professional across both, building hiring, performance reviews, exits and POSH compliance from the ground up, and taking day-to-day people issues off management's desk.

We are not looking for freshers, but for someone who has atleast 3 years of manufacturing industry experience, and who's looking for a challenging role to grow their skills conceptually (and not just on paper).

How to Apply:

Email me at [email protected] with:

- Your resume, attached
- Years of HR experience, how many of those were in a generalist or HR lead role, and how many on a manufacturing shopfloor (name the company and roughly how many workers you covered)
- Your Kannada level: conversational, professional or mother tongue
- One engagement activity you ran for manufacturing or production staff: what it was, who it was for, and what impact did it have
- One people issue you handled on your own, start to finish: what happened, what you did, how it ended. A short paragraph in your own words is perfect.
- Your salary expectations (CTC in LPA). Our budget for this role is 8 to 9 LPA
- Why this role interests you specifically

Role:

As HR Head, you'll own people operations at Z&B; and SCPL: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, exits, employee concerns, POSH compliance and HR records. You'll report directly to management and settle routine people matters yourself.

3 to 5 years of HR experience, with at least 1 to 2 years in a generalist or HR lead role and hands-on shopfloor exposure.

100% on-site, full-time position at our office at Yelachanahalli, Kanakapura Road.

What This Role Is NOT:

- Part of an HR team. You are the HR function, and there are no current plans to expand it
- A desk-bound policy role. Expect to spend real time with designers at the studio and with operators and supervisors at SCPL
- A role for escalating routine decisions. Leave approvals, minor conflicts and policy questions should stop with you
- Remote or hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

Short-term (1 to 2 years):

- Own all people operations across Z&B; and SCPL: hiring, exits,

performance, engagement and HR administration
- Run the KRA/KPI framework and the performance review cycle, with structured periodic 1:1s and formal appraisals across both organisations, every one of them documented
- Handle hiring end to end: JD creation, job posting, screening, interview coordination, offers and onboarding for all roles
- Manage exits, including resignations, notice periods, offboarding checklists and exit interviews
- Deal with employee concerns, interpersonal conflicts and policy queries independently, so management isn't pulled in
- Set up POSH compliance: form the Internal Committee, train every employee across both companies, and act as first point of contact for complaints

Medium to long-term (2 to 3 years):

- Build candidate pipelines for recurring roles to cut time-to-hire
- Work with management to spot skill gaps and organise training on a regular cadence
- Design engagement and team-building programmes that suit both a design studio and a packaging production floor
- Help shape HR policy and organisational design as both companies grow

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

These are the results we expect from bringing you on board, and they'll decide your growth path and future promotions:

- Measurable reduction in management time spent on routine HR tasks and people issues
- Consistent, documented hiring and exit processes across Z&B; and SCPL
- Performance review cycles completed on schedule and accurately
- Better employee engagement and retention, on the studio side and the production side
- Clean HR records and full compliance with Z&B; and SCPL policies
- Further goals, KPIs and project plans will be discussed during the interview process and onboarding.

Basic Terms of Employment:

- Permanent, full-time, on-site role with Zinc & Broccoli at our Kanakapura Road office
- Working hours: our day starts between 09:00 and 10:15, usually 9-hour workdays,

Monday to Friday, plus 2 working Saturdays a month
- 6 months' probation (no paid leaves during probation)
- 2 months' notice period if employee wishes to terminate the contract

Skills and Tools Required:

- 3 to 5 years of HR experience, including at least 1 to 2 years in a generalist or HR lead role
- Hands-on HR experience on a manufacturing shopfloor is mandatory; exposure to creative studios or professional services is an advantage
- Experience running engagement activities for production or factory staff
- Experience owning performance management and KPI tracking
- Strong written and verbal English
- Conversational Kannada is mandatory
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel is mandatory; experience with HRMS tools such as PagarBook is a plus
- Discretion and maturity with sensitive employee matters
- Organised, process-driven and comfortable working independently with minimal hand-holding

Thanks for reading! This is how it works:

I (Raksha Sharma, Studio Director & Partner at Zinc & Broccoli) read every application that comes into my inbox. If you've read this far and answer exactly what's asked, you're already ahead of most of the applicants. I'll call you first, then we'll set up an interview in person at the office.

There are two rounds of interviews at the office before the role is finalised. I've posted this job opening for the third time this year, because the previous two times brought an overwhelming number of resumes to sift through. I've changed the application process now, hoping this lands me the right person (and then I can hand over this process to you!)
