– HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR
Position: Housekeeping Supervisor
Department: Housekeeping
Industry: Hospital / Healthcare
Reporting To: Housekeeping Manager / Administration / HR
Job Purpose To supervise and coordinate the day-to-day housekeeping activities of the hospital and ensure a clean, hygienic, safe, and well-maintained environment for patients, visitors, doctors, and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor the daily activities of housekeeping staff across all hospital areas.
- Prepare and allocate daily duties and shift schedules for housekeeping staff.
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, wards, OP areas, corridors, toilets, offices, waiting areas, and other hospital premises.
- Ensure housekeeping staff follow hospital hygiene, infection-control, and safety procedures.
- Conduct regular rounds and inspect housekeeping areas to maintain required cleanliness standards.
- Monitor the use and availability of cleaning materials, chemicals, equipment, and other housekeeping supplies.
- Coordinate with Stores for housekeeping material requirements and maintain proper stock records.
- Train and guide housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, chemical usage, PPE, and safety practices.
- Ensure proper segregation and handling of hospital waste as per hospital procedures and applicable biomedical-waste requirements.
- Attend to housekeeping-related complaints from patients, visitors, doctors, nurses, and other departments and take necessary corrective action.
- Report maintenance issues such as water leakage, damaged fixtures, electrical problems, or other facility-related concerns to the concerned department.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, leave, and shift coverage and report irregularities to HR/Management.
- Ensure adequate housekeeping manpower is available during all shifts.
- Maintain daily housekeeping checklists,
inspection records, duty rosters, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Administration, Security, Stores, and other departments for smooth hospital operations.
- Ensure deep cleaning and special cleaning activities are carried out as per the schedule.
- Monitor the condition and proper usage of housekeeping equipment and report breakdowns or replacement requirements.
- Ensure staff maintain proper grooming, uniform, ID card, and professional behaviour.
- Conduct periodic performance checks of housekeeping staff and provide feedback to the management.
- Perform any other housekeeping-related duties assigned by the Management.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Good supervisory and team-management skills.
- Knowledge of hospital housekeeping and hygiene practices.
- Ability to manage housekeeping staff across multiple areas and shifts.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle complaints and resolve routine housekeeping issues.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work in a hospital setting and coordinate with different departments.
Qualification & Experience Qualification: Minimum 10th / 12th standard; housekeeping or facility-management qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in hospital housekeeping, healthcare, hotel, or facility management. Hospital housekeeping experience is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Must be physically active and capable of conducting regular rounds of the hospital.
- Must follow hospital safety, hygiene, infection-control, and workplace policies at all times.
Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
