Role & responsibilities
Core frontend engineering[PY1]
- Design and build rich, component-driven UIs using a contemporary JS framework (React / Next.js preferred; Angular or Vue also considered) with TypeScript
- Build streaming UI experiences SSE / WebSocket integration for real-time data updates and live-feed rendering
- Design UX patterns for interactive dashboards and human-in-the-loop review workflows (approve/reject/edit flows on system-generated output)
- Implement state management (e.g., Redux or equivalent) for complex, asynchronous, multi-step application state
- Build with Tailwind or an equivalent component library, following consistent design system and accessibility practices
- Own client-side performance code splitting, lazy loading, render optimization, and responsiveness under real usage
- Integrate platform auth on the client — OIDC / OAuth 2.0 flows, JWT handling, and role-based UI gating
Code quality and engineering practice
- Write clean, typed, well-tested TypeScript/JavaScript; maintain component architecture that scales as the platform grows
- Write and maintain frontend tests (unit, component, and end-to-end with Playwright/Cypress)
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery — ideation, coding, tests, documentation — while maintaining code quality, security, and correctness
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint grooming within an agile team
- Contribute to CI/CD for frontend builds and deployments (Docker packaging, pipeline configuration)
Cross-functional collaboration
- Collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts — request/response shapes, error handling, and streaming (SSE/WebSocket) semantics for real-time interfaces
- Read and reason about REST API behavior (e.g., a FastAPI endpoint's OpenAPI spec) well enough to debug integration issues independently
- Where needed,
make small, well-scoped changes to backend request/response handling in collaboration with the backend team — depth in backend engineering is not expected
Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting. Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
This is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required. This does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of Cotiviti and requirements of the job change.
[PY1]Year of experience ?
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. Master’s in a related discipline is good to have.
- Solid, hands-on experience building production frontend applications; open on overall years of experience — candidates are evaluated primarily on depth of skills fit rather than a fixed YOE band
Core frontend — must demonstrate deep, working fluency
- Modern JS framework: React / Next.js (preferred) or Angular / Vue — component architecture, hooks/lifecycle, rendering behavior, performance optimization
- TypeScript: strong typing discipline across components, props, and application state
- State management: Redux or equivalent — managing complex, asynchronous, multi-step UI state cleanly
- Streaming UI: SSE / WebSocket integration for real-time, incremental data rendering
- Styling & component systems: Tailwind or a component library, consistent design system usage, responsive and accessible UI
- Async data fetching: request lifecycle management, caching, error/loading states, race-condition handling
- Auth on the client: OIDC / OAuth 2.0 flows, JWT handling, role-based UI gating
