Role Description

As a Founding Data Engineer, you will help build the core data infrastructure that powers Stelloid.

You will work on ingesting, standardizing, and modeling data from multiple commerce systems and turning it into reliable, analytics-ready datasets for dashboards, recommendations, ML workflows, and AI agents.

This is primarily a data engineering role, but as part of the founding team, you will also contribute to architecture, backend systems, AI/ML workflows, and product decisions.

Responsibilities

- Design and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Python and SQL
- Own data integrations across marketplaces, webshops, ad platforms, ERP/OMS systems, inventory, logistics, and other third-party systems
- Build and maintain dbt models across staging, intermediate, and mart layers
- Design standardized data models, metric definitions, and data contracts
- Create analytics-ready datasets across revenue, margins, inventory, advertising, pricing, returns, and SKU/channel performance
- Implement data quality, testing, freshness, observability, lineage, and backfill workflows
- Work with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Meltano, or similar
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data-quality issues, and performance bottlenecks
- Optimize warehouse performance, reliability, and compute costs
- Support downstream analytics,



recommendation engines, ML workflows, and AI agents
- Contribute to broader architecture and engineering decisions

Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience building production-grade data systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with dbt
- Strong understanding of data modeling, dimensional schemas, marts, and slowly changing dimensions
- Experience building pipelines from APIs, databases, and third-party systems
- Experience with cloud warehouses or lakehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Meltano, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of data quality, reliability, and observability
- Experience supporting analytics, ML, or user-facing products built on modeled data
- Ability to work in an early-stage environment with ambiguity and high ownership
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is useful, but strong practical experience matters more.

- Experience with AI-driven or product-centric data platforms
- Experience with agentic systems where LLMs interact with structured data through APIs, tools, metrics layers, or MCP-style interfaces
- ML pipelines or feature-generation systems
- E-commerce, marketplaces, SaaS, analytics, or commercial data platforms
- 0→1 startup experience
