– FITTING SUPERVISOR (SAP)
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Designation: Fitting Supervisor – SAP
Location: Vasai & Virar Factory
Experience: 5–8 Years
Qualification: Diploma / ITI in Mechanical / Fitter Trade or equivalent
Employment Type: Full Time
1. Job Purpose
To supervise and control day-to-day fitting and assembly activities on the shop floor, ensure production targets are achieved as per planned schedules, maintain quality and safety standards, manage manpower effectively, and ensure timely and accurate recording of production-related transactions in SAP.
1. Key Responsibilities
A. Fitting & Production Operations
- Supervise day-to-day fitting, assembly and fabrication-related activities on the shop floor.
- Allocate jobs to fitters and helpers as per production requirements and individual skills.
- Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, work instructions and quality standards.
- Monitor production activities against daily and monthly production targets.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machines, tools and materials.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality and Maintenance departments for smooth production flow.
- Identify production bottlenecks and immediately report issues to the Production Manager.
- Ensure timely completion of jobs as per production schedule.
B. SAP Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain accurate production-related data in SAP.
- Prepare/record production orders, material consumption, confirmations and related transactions as applicable.
- Check availability and issuance of materials against production requirements.
- Ensure timely updating of production status and completion in SAP.
- Coordinate with Stores and Planning teams regarding material availability and SAP stock-related discrepancies.
- Monitor system-generated production requirements and ensure timely execution of work orders.
- Maintain accuracy between physical production, material consumption and SAP records.
- Report any SAP-related discrepancies or transaction issues to the concerned department.
C. Quality Control
- Ensure fitting and assembly work is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Check dimensions, alignment, fitment and workmanship before moving jobs to the next stage.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection and clearance.
- Minimize rework, rejection and material wastage.
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions in coordination with the Production/Quality team.
D. Tools, Equipment & Material Control
- Ensure proper use and handling of fitting tools, measuring instruments and equipment.
- Monitor availability and condition of tools required for production.
- Ensure materials are used economically and avoid unnecessary wastage.
- Coordinate with Stores for timely issue of required materials.
- Report damaged, defective or insufficient tools/equipment to the concerned department.
E. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily production and manpower records.
- Prepare daily production reports and update production status.
- Maintain records related to material consumption, rejection, rework and downtime.
- Ensure timely submission of required production reports to the Production Manager.
- Maintain proper documentation related to work orders and SAP transactions.
1. Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fitting, assembly and mechanical shop-floor operations.
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings and basic measuring instruments.
- Working knowledge of SAP Production / MM-related transactions.
- Valuable manpower handling and supervisory skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize shop-floor activities.
- Knowledge of quality, safety and 5S practices.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
- Ability to identify production problems and coordinate corrective actions.
1. Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, mechanical assembly or industrial production environments will be preferred. Experience in organizations using SAP for production, material management and inventory transactions will be an added advantage.
