Role Description The Fabric Merchandiser – Textile is a full-time, in office role based in Coimbatore. This role is responsible for sourcing and selecting fabrics for school-wear ranges, coordinating with suppliers and mills, and ensuring materials meet required quality, cost, and delivery standards. Daily tasks include reviewing fabric samples, managing approvals, maintaining fabric libraries, and working closely with design, production, and quality teams to align fabric choices with product specifications and brand guidelines.

The role involves monitoring fabric performance, handling color and wash standards, and tracking inventory and lead times to support smooth manufacturing operations.

Merchandiser also contributes to seasonal planning, market research on trends and materials, and continuous improvement of fabric utilization and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

- Knowledge of textiles, fabric types, constructions, and finishes, ideally with experience in school-wear or uniform segments.
- Ability to coordinate with suppliers, mills, and internal teams to manage sampling, approvals, and bulk fabric orders.
- Experience in merchandising activities such as fabric sourcing, cost negotiation, and tracking deliveries and inventory.
- Strong attention to detail in evaluating fabric quality, color consistency, durability, and compliance with product specifications.
- Proficiency in basic data management and documentation related to fabric records, purchase orders, and production tracking.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work with design, production, and quality assurance teams.
- Ability to work on-site in Coimbatore, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Diploma or degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in textile or apparel merchandising, especially in uniforms or kidswear, is an advantage.
