Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an Engineer Optics Design (Electro-Optics & Optical Payloads Division) to contribute to the design, simulation, prototyping, testing and integration of advanced optical systems used in aerospace and defence applications. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge electro-optical payload development and precision optical engineering.

- Perform optical system design, ray tracing, modelling and optimisation activities
- Conduct tolerance analysis, stray light evaluation and optical performance assessments
- Support design and development of lens systems, illumination systems and laser optics
- Prepare optical specifications, fabrication drawings and coating requirements
- Coordinate with optical manufacturing vendors for custom optical components
- Conduct assembly, alignment and testing of optical systems in laboratory environments
- Generate design reports, engineering documentation, assembly procedures and test reports
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support product development and qualification activities

Preferred candidate profile

- B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc in Optical Engineering, Applied Optics, Physics, Optoelectronics or related disciplines




- 25 years of relevant experience in optical design and development
- Hands-on experience with Zemax OpticStudio, LightTools, TracePro or equivalent optical simulation tools
- Strong understanding of geometrical optics, wave optics, optical materials and thin-film coatings
- Knowledge of optical alignment techniques and laboratory testing procedures
- Experience with optical tables, lasers, collimators, beam profilers and measurement equipment
- Familiarity with CAD integration tools such as SolidWorks or Creo
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills
- Preferred industry experience: Optical Engineering, Electro-Optics, Defence Systems, Aerospace Systems, Optical Payloads, Imaging Systems, Laser Systems, Photonics
