Job Description:

A Time Keeper in a coal washery is responsible for managing the attendance, shifts, and working hours of workers in a high-demand, industrial setting, ensuring compliance with labor laws and enabling accurate payroll processing. They operate under specific regulations (such as Mines Metalliferous Regulation 1961) to manage employee hours, overtime, and leave, usually working in an attendance cabin near the site.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Attendance Tracking: Record and monitor the attendance of all staff, contractors, and visitors, ensuring only authorized personnel enter the site.
Shift Management: Maintain shift rosters (morning, evening, night) and track daily attendance in compliance with safety and legal requirements.
Data Entry & Payroll Support: Accurately input daily attendance data into software (e.g., SAP-ERP, Excel) and prepare daily/monthly reports for payroll.
Overtime and Leave Tracking: Record overtime hours, absenteeism, and leave requests.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure adherence to labor laws regarding working hours and overtime.




Reporting Anomalies: Immediately report to management or the under-manager if employees fail to record their attendance within the specified timeframe.
Site Liaison: Act as a single point of contact between workers and the site HR/management.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience as a Time Keeper in a mechanized mine or heavy industrial setting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office) and potentially ERP/SAP software.
Detail Orientation: Solid attention to detail to maintain accurate records.
Education: High school diploma, equivalent, or a relevant certificate.
Knowledge: Understanding of statutory compliances such as PF/ESI and BOCW.
