Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer NPI with 6–8 years of relevant experience exclusively in the EMS / Electronics Manufacturing Services industry.

The Senior Engineer NPI will be responsible for managing and executing New Product Introduction activities from prototype development through pilot production and successful transition to mass production. The role will involve close coordination with R&D;, Design, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Materials and other cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing readiness, product quality, cost effectiveness and timely NPI execution.

The candidate should have strong hands-on knowledge of PCBA/PCB assembly, SMT/THT processes, Gerber files, BOM, manufacturing documentation, fixtures, testing and NPI processes within an EMS environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Introduction

- Lead and coordinate complete NPI activities from product development/prototype stage to mass production.

- Review current product requirements and assess manufacturing feasibility.

- Coordinate with R&D; / Design Engineering teams for successful product introduction.

- Prepare and execute NPI project plans, timelines and milestones.

- Ensure smooth transition of new products from engineering to manufacturing.

2. EMS Manufacturing & Process Knowledge

- Strong understanding of EMS manufacturing processes, including SMT, THT/DIP, PCB assembly, soldering, rework and assembly processes.

- Review manufacturing processes and identify potential production risks during NPI.

- Ensure manufacturing readiness before pilot and mass production.

- Support process optimization for improved productivity, quality and yield.

3. Gerber, BOM & Engineering Documentation

- Hands-on experience in reviewing and interpreting Gerber files and PCB manufacturing data.

- Review BOM, component specifications, AVL and engineering drawings.

- Interpret electronic component datasheets and identify component-related manufacturing requirements.

- Ensure availability and accuracy of manufacturing documentation before production release.

4. Fixture, Tooling & Test Development

- Coordinate development and validation of wave pallets, routing pallets, assembly fixtures and test fixtures.

- Support fixture/tooling requirements based on product and manufacturing requirements.





- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors for fixture development and validation.

- Ensure required tools, equipment, test equipment and prototype parts are available for NPI builds.

5. Product Testing & Validation

- Develop and execute product test plans as per manufacturing requirements.

- Support functional testing, electrical testing and product validation during NPI.

- Hands-on knowledge of testing equipment such as Multimeter, CRO/Oscilloscope and other electronic test equipment.

- Identify and resolve testing-related issues during prototype, pilot and production stages.

6. Prototype & Pilot Build

- Plan and execute prototype, EVT/DVT/PVT or pilot builds as applicable.

- Monitor build activities and document issues identified during trials.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for timely closure of NPI issues.

- Ensure lessons learned from prototype/pilot builds are incorporated before mass production.

7. Manufacturing Documentation & ECO

- Prepare/review manufacturing plans, work instructions, process documentation and related NPI documents.

- Ensure compliance with ECO/ECN procedures and approved work instructions.

- Coordinate engineering changes and ensure proper implementation on the production floor.

- Maintain proper NPI documentation and revision control.

8. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate closely with R&D;, Design, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Materials, Procurement and Test Engineering teams.

- Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Materials teams during NPI.

- Ensure timely communication of NPI status, risks, issues and action plans.

- Coordinate with suppliers/vendors wherever required for components, tooling, fixtures and testing requirements.

9. Quality & Process Improvement

- Identify manufacturing risks and implement preventive actions during NPI.

- Analyze production/process issues and recommend improvements.

- Support Root Cause Analysis, CAPA and corrective actions.

- Drive improvements in yield,



productivity, quality and manufacturing efficiency.

- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.

10. Project Monitoring & Reporting

- Track NPI project progress against agreed timelines and milestones.

- Prepare regular NPI status reports for management.

- Highlight project risks, delays, material issues, technical issues and other critical concerns.

- Ensure timely closure of open NPI actions.

- Provide regular updates to senior management on product readiness and NPI status.

Required Skills & Competencies

- 6–8 years of experience in NPI / New Product Introduction from EMS industry only.

- Strong hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing / PCBA manufacturing.

- Strong knowledge of SMT, THT/DIP and PCB assembly processes.

- Good understanding of Gerber files and PCB data.

- Good knowledge of BOM, AVL, electronic components and datasheets.

- Experience in fixture and tooling development.

- Experience in product testing and debugging.

- Knowledge of manufacturing documentation and ECO/ECN processes.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Good understanding of Quality and manufacturing processes.

- Strong cross-functional coordination and communication skills.

- Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Power Point.

- Ability to manage multiple NPI projects and meet defined timelines.

Educational Qualification

B. Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication or a related engineering discipline.

Mandatory Industry Experience

Only candidates having relevant experience in the EMS / Electronics Manufacturing Services industry should be considered.

Candidates from general manufacturing, automotive, mechanical manufacturing or non-electronics industries without relevant EMS experience should not be considered for this position.
