1. Job Purpose

To supervise and coordinate material handling activities at the steel plant, ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient movement, loading, unloading, stacking, and storage of raw materials, billets, finished steel products, and other industrial materials.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Material Handling & Movement

- Supervise loading, unloading, shifting, stacking, and dispatch of raw materials and finished steel products.
- Ensure proper handling of billets, TMT bars, structural steel, scrap, and other materials.
- Coordinate material movement using cranes, forklifts, hydras, trailers, and other material-handling equipment.
- Ensure proper identification, segregation, and stacking of materials at designated locations.
- Prevent material damage, wastage, and unnecessary movement during handling.

B. Site Supervision & Manpower Management

- Allocate daily duties to workers, helpers, and material-handling staff.
- Monitor workforce productivity, attendance, discipline, and work quality.
- Coordinate with production, stores, dispatch, security, and transport teams.
- Ensure timely execution of daily material-handling activities.

C. Inventory & Documentation

- Verify material quantities during loading, unloading, and shifting.
- Maintain material movement registers, loading/unloading records, and daily activity reports.




- Coordinate with the stores team for physical stock verification and reconciliation.
- Report shortages, excess quantities, damaged materials, and discrepancies to the concerned department.

D. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with plant safety rules and material-handling procedures.
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE, including safety helmets, shoes, gloves, and reflective jackets.
- Ensure protected stacking practices and maintain clear access routes.
- Monitor lifting operations and ensure the use of suitable lifting tools and equipment by authorized personnel.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, near misses, and accidents to the concerned authority.
- Coordinate with the Safety Department to maintain a safe working setting.

E. Equipment & Housekeeping

- Monitor the condition and availability of material-handling equipment.
- Report equipment breakdowns and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in material storage and handling areas.
- Ensure materials are stored in designated locations without obstructing movement or emergency access.

F. Reporting & Coordination

- Submit daily reports on material movement, manpower deployment, pending work, and operational issues.




- Coordinate with the Plant Head and other departments for smooth site operations.
- Escalate material shortages, delays, safety concerns, and operational bottlenecks promptly.

3. Educational Qualification

- Minimum 12th Pass / ITI / Diploma preferred.
- Candidates with relevant industrial experience may also be considered.

4. Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in material handling, site supervision, stores, dispatch, or steel plant operations.
- Experience in a steel manufacturing plant or heavy industrial environment will be preferred.

5. Required Skills

- Knowledge of steel materials, loading/unloading, and stacking practices.
- Manpower handling and team supervision.
- Basic material documentation and stock verification.
- Knowledge of industrial safety and PPE requirements.
- Basic computer knowledge and Excel skills preferred.
- Positive communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Accuracy of material movement and stock records.
- Timely loading, unloading, and material shifting.
- Reduction in material damage and handling losses.
- Compliance with safety procedures.
- Manpower productivity and work discipline.
- Timely submission of daily reports.

Preferred Candidate: A disciplined, safety-conscious, and hands-on supervisor capable of managing workers and coordinating material-handling activities in a steel industry environment.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
