Job Description: Design Engineer – Sheet Metal Design & Programming

Job Title: Design Engineer – Sheet Metal
Department: Design / Engineering
Experience: 2–5 years (depending on requirements)

Job Responsibilities

- Design and develop sheet metal components, enclosures, panels, brackets, cabinets, and fabricated assemblies.
- Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and detailed fabrication drawings.
- Perform sheet metal flat pattern development, bend allowance calculations, and unfolding.
- Prepare CNC programs for sheet metal machinery such as laser cutting, punching, and bending.
- Generate and optimize programs for CNC laser cutting machines, turret punch presses, and CNC press brakes.
- Understand tooling selection, bend sequences, nesting, and material utilization.
- Coordinate with production, fabrication, and quality teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing feasibility, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Revise drawings and programs based on engineering changes.

Required Technical Skills

- Proficiency in sheet metal design software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor
- Knowledge of CNC programming software such as TruTops Boost depending on the machines used.




- Knowledge of CNC laser cutting, punching, and press brake operations.
- Understanding of sheet metal materials, thicknesses, tolerances, bend radius, K-factor, and bend allowance.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, and manufacturing specifications.
- Knowledge of DXF/DWG file preparation and flat pattern generation.
- Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and cost optimization.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

- Practical experience with sheet metal fabrication and CNC machine programming.
- Knowledge of BOM preparation, ERP systems, and engineering change management.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Key Requirement

The candidate should have a combination of sheet metal design knowledge and hands-on CNC programming experience, with the ability to convert design models and drawings into production-ready programs.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
