About the Role

Oranzai Builders LLP is looking for an experienced and analytical Senior Cost Control Engineer to strengthen our project cost management and financial monitoring processes.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing project budgets, tracking expenditure, analysing cost deviations, monitoring material and subcontractor expenses, and maintaining accurate project cost records. The role requires close coordination with site teams, procurement, accounts and project management to minimise cost leakages and improve overall project profitability.

We are looking for someone who can independently manage project cost control and provide management with reliable, timely and actionable cost insights.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Budgeting & Cost Monitoring

- Develop, maintain and update project-wise budgets and detailed cost sheets.
- Track actual expenditure against approved budgets and estimates.
- Monitor committed costs, expenses incurred and anticipated future expenditure for ongoing projects.
- Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts to assess the projected final cost of each project.
- Compare estimated project costs with actual costs upon project completion.

2. Cost Variance Analysis & Control

- Identify budget deviations, cost overruns and potential financial risks at an early stage.
- Analyse the reasons for cost variations and communicate findings to management and relevant department heads.
- Monitor material consumption, wastage and unusual expenditure at project sites.
- Identify cost leakages, unnecessary spending and opportunities for cost optimisation.
- Recommend practical cost-control measures to improve project efficiency and profitability.

3. Material, Procurement & Subcontractor Cost Management

- Review BOQs, estimates, purchase requirements, vendor quotations and subcontractor rates from a cost-control perspective.
- Verify purchase orders and work orders against approved project budgets.
- Track material costs, labour expenses, subcontractor charges,



vendor bills and other project-related expenditure.
- Monitor subcontractor bills against approved rates, quantities and work orders.
- Coordinate with procurement and site teams to ensure costs remain within approved limits.

4. Interdepartmental Coordination

- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Procurement, Accounts and other relevant teams to collect, verify and reconcile project cost information.
- Follow up on pending cost records, bills, purchase details and site expenditure statements.
- Ensure project-related financial and cost information is accurate, complete and updated regularly.
- Support project teams in resolving cost discrepancies and improving expenditure control.

5. MIS Reporting & Profitability Analysis

- Prepare weekly and monthly Cost Control MIS reports for management review.
- Generate budget-versus-actual reports highlighting variances, risks and corrective actions.
- Assist in evaluating project-wise profitability, cost performance and margins.
- Maintain historical project cost data to support future budgeting, estimation and pricing decisions.
- Provide management with explicit cost analysis and recommendations for informed decision-making.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be evaluated based on the following parameters:

- Budget Control: Maintaining project expenditure within approved budgets and minimising cost variances.
- Reporting Accuracy: Ensuring cost sheets, expenditure statements and MIS reports are reliable.
- Early Risk Identification: Detecting and reporting potential cost overruns before they escalate.
- Material Cost Efficiency: Monitoring material consumption, wastage and abnormal variations.
- Forecasting Reliability:



Maintaining accurate cost-to-complete projections for ongoing projects.
- Reporting Timeliness: Submitting weekly and monthly cost reports within the stipulated timelines.
- Cost Optimisation: Identifying practical savings and supporting the implementation of approved cost-reduction measures.
- Profitability Tracking: Maintaining accurate project-wise cost and margin data.

Qualification & Experience

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction cost control, quantity surveying, estimation or project costing.
- B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering or another relevant qualification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of BOQs, construction materials, labour costs, subcontractor works and site execution.
- Prior experience in residential construction projects is preferred.
- Exposure to interior project costing will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and preparation of detailed cost reports.
- Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and accountability.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work effectively with site and office teams.
