About Sharq
Sharq builds sovereign, specialist AI for enterprises and governments across the GCC and MENA. We post-train and serve models tailored to the region’s languages, regulations, and infrastructure, so banks, telecoms, insurers, and public-sector organisations can deploy AI they actually control, on their own terms and inside their own borders.
We’re an early-stage team, and you’ll be one of our first engineers. What you build will become the foundation of the company.
What you’ll do
• Build and scale the inference and serving infrastructure behind our models, including deployments in customer-controlled and on-premise environments
• Develop pipelines for data processing, fine-tuning, and evaluation of LLMs, with a focus on Arabic and regional use cases
• Ship production APIs, integrations, and internal tooling that enterprise clients rely on
• Work directly with customers in regulated industries to turn their requirements into working systems
• Help set our engineering culture, standards, and architecture from day one
What we’re looking for
• [3+] years of experience building production software (Python required; Go, Rust, or TypeScript a plus)
• Hands-on experience with ML or LLM systems: serving (vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, Triton, or similar), fine-tuning, or evaluation
• Comfort with cloud and container infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/Azure/GCP), and ideally on-prem or air-gapped deployments
• A track record of working independently and communicating clearly in a remote team
• An ownership mindset: you’re happy to work across the stack in an ambiguous, rapid-moving environment
• Ability to work with significant overlap with Gulf Standard Time (GMT+4)
Nice to have
• Arabic language skills, or experience building Arabic NLP systems
• Background in banking, telecom, insurance, or government technology
• Familiarity with data-sovereignty and regulatory frameworks in the UAE and GCC
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Dubai
