Position: University Counsellor – Student Well-Being & Mental Health
Location: Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru

Role 1: University Counsellor – Day Shift | Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Role Purpose: Provide accessible, confidential counselling and student well-being support during university hours, including early identification of concerns, appropriate referrals, follow-up and awareness initiatives.

Role 2: Hostel Counsellor / Student Well-Being Executive – Evening Shift | Working Hours: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Accommodation: No stay required on campus; work only during assigned shift
Role Purpose: Provide designated evening counselling and student welfare support for hostel residents. Coordinate with the Chief Warden, wardens, resident faculty and relevant University teams when concerns require follow-up or escalation. This is non-residential; no hostel or campus stay is required beyond the assigned shift.

Key Responsibilities (Both Roles)




• Provide confidential individual and group counselling for academic, emotional, behavioural, personal and social concerns.
• Identify early signs of emotional or psychological distress and determine when specialist support may be required.
• Facilitate referrals to qualified psychologists, psychiatrists, medical professionals, hospitals or rehabilitation/de-addiction services, as appropriate.
• Conduct student well-being and mental-health awareness programmes, including resilience, substance-use prevention, cyber-safety and anti-ragging awareness.
• Coordinate with Student Affairs, faculty, mentors, wardens and designated University authorities to support students and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain confidential counselling notes, referral and follow-up records, risk assessments and incident documentation; submit anonymised reports as required.
