Roles & Responsibilities

Role Summary

Integration Engineer is a fully functioning engineer responsible for designing, developing, and delivering enterprise integrations across diverse technology platforms. While MuleSoft serves as the primary integration platform, the engineer is expected to work across REST, SOAP, GraphQL, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures to solve business integration challenges.

The engineer translates requirements documents into technical designs, integration specifications, implementation plans, and backlog stories. They build APIs, transformations, workflows, and orchestration layers connecting applications across MuleSoft, AWS, Salesforce, databases, and custom platforms. This role owns integration quality, testing, documentation, and production readiness while actively contributing to agile planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Solution Design

- Analyze business requirements and integration use cases.
- Convert functional requirements into technical integration designs.
- Create solution design documents, sequence diagrams, mapping specifications, and API contracts.
- Define scalable, secure, and reusable integration patterns.

MuleSoft Development

- Design and develop MuleSoft APIs and integration services.
- Implement:
- System APIs
- Process APIs
- Experience APIs

- Build reusable connectors, policies, and shared integration components.




- Implement DataWeave transformations and orchestration workflows.

API Development & Management

- Design and implement APIs using:
- REST
- SOAP
- GraphQL

- Develop versioning, governance, and lifecycle management practices.
- Implement API security, authentication, throttling, and monitoring.

Cloud & Platform Integrations

- Build integrations across:
- AWS Services
- Salesforce
- Enterprise Databases
- External Vendor Systems
- Internal Business Applications

- Implement event-driven integrations using messaging and asynchronous processing patterns.
- Design resilient and fault-tolerant integration workflows.

Requirements Analysis & Agile Delivery

- Translate requirements documents into technical stories and actionable backlog items.
- Participate in:
- Backlog refinement
- Sprint planning
- Story estimation
- Agile ceremonies

- Collaborate with Product Owners and business stakeholders to clarify requirements.

Quality Engineering

- Own integration testing strategy and execution.
- Develop:
- Unit Tests
- Integration Tests
- End-to-End Validation Tests

- Ensure production readiness and deployment quality.
- Support root cause analysis and issue remediation.

Documentation & Governance

- Produce comprehensive integration documentation.
- Maintain API specifications and mapping documents.
- Ensure compliance with governance, security, and enterprise standards.
- Support audit and operational readiness requirements.

Operational Excellence

- Monitor integration performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents.
- Drive automation, observability, and support efficiency improvements.
- Identify opportunities for platform optimization and reuse.

Mentoring & Collaboration

- Mentor junior integration engineers and developers.
- Conduct code reviews and technical reviews.
- Share integration best practices and design standards.
- Collaborate across architecture, engineering, QA, support, and business teams.
