Manager Strategic Sourcing - Casting/Gear & Shaft - 10+ Years - Hoshiarpur

Own sourcing for the castings or the gears and shafts that sit at the heart of a tractor. This senior role at a leading tractor OEM covers building a resilient foundry, forging or gear supplier network. You will drive cost, quality and supply continuity for high-volume production.

Location: Hoshiarpur, Punjab

Your Future Employer: A leading tractor and farm equipment manufacturer with high-volume assembly and in-house transmission manufacturing. It is known for engineering depth and a strong supplier ecosystem.

Responsibilities

1. Build multi-year sourcing strategies for either critical casting categories (engine blocks, housings, transmission cases) or driveline categories (gears, shafts, PTO and differential components).
2. Drive cost reduction through clean-sheet costing, yield and cycle-time analysis, heat treatment modelling and structured negotiations.
3. Govern price indexation for pig iron, scrap and energy (casting) or alloy steel grades such as 20MnCr5, 8620 and 16MnCr5 (gear and shaft).
4. Manage patterns and core boxes (casting) or forging dies and cutting tools (gear and shaft). Partner with R&D;, Engineering and PMO on NPD/ESI, DFM and APQP/PPAP.
5. Onboard and scale foundries (casting) or forging plants and gear makers (gear and shaft) with dual-sourcing. Work with SQE and PQC on zero-defect quality, and lead VA/VE and material rationalisation.

Requirements

1. 10–14 years in strategic sourcing and vendor development at a leading Tractor, Automotive or HCV OEM, handling either iron castings or transmission gears and shafts.
2. Strong command of iron foundry processes (Grey and SG Iron), pattern and core box costing, and metallurgy (casting), or of gear manufacturing, forging and heat treatment (gear and shaft).
3.



Working knowledge of APQP/PPAP frameworks and of quality parameters for the relevant commodity.
4. Excellent negotiation skills, with expertise in indexation modelling, clean-sheet costing, e-sourcing and SAP MM.
5. B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Metallurgical Engineering. An MBA/PGDM is preferred. Candidates from Punjab or with northern region supplier ecosystem familiarity are strongly preferred.
