A care home cook prepares nutritious, protected, and appealing meals for residents in a residential care, nursing, or assisted living facility while managing kitchen operations. [1, 2]Core Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Cooking: Plan and cook balanced, wholesome daily menus tailored to the tastes, nutritional needs, and cultural backgrounds of elderly or vulnerable residents. [1, 2, 3]
Special & Modified Diets: Prepare specialized meals for medical conditions, allergies, or swallowing difficulties (such as IDSSI texture-modified foods and purees) in consultation with care staff or speech and language therapists. [1, 2]
Kitchen Management & Stock: Monitor food supplies, place orders, manage inventory using rotation methods (like FIFO/LIFO - First In, First Out), and operate within a set catering budget. [1, 2]
Hygiene & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict standards of kitchen cleanliness, food hygiene, temperature logging,



and health and safety regulations (such as HACCP or Safer Food Better Business guidelines). [1, 2, 3]
Resident Interaction: Engage with residents to gather feedback on meals and accommodate personal preferences or special requests. [1]

Key Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience working in a commercial, institutional, or healthcare kitchen. [1, 2]
Certifications: Valid Level 2 (or higher) Food Hygiene Certificate and relevant background/security checks (such as an enhanced DBS check or local equivalent). [1, 2]
Skills: Knowledge of special nutritional requirements, large-quantity cooking, time management, and the ability to work compassionately around elderly or vulnerable residents

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
