About Us:
Volochem is a fast-paced Contract Research Organization (CRO) committed to delivering top-tier scientific services to our global clients.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Associate Scientist to join our Analytical Department. In this role, you will purify compounds by preparative HPLC, develop analytical and chiral HPLC methods, carry out routine HPLC and LC-MS analysis, and maintain the documentation that supports this work.
Working closely with our chemistry teams and clients, you will make sure analytical results are accurate, reproducible, and delivered on time, in line with data integrity and quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Purification by Preparative HPLC
• Purify and isolate target compounds by preparative HPLC using both reverse-phase and normal-phase techniques.
• Develop and optimize purification methods to achieve the required purity, recovery, and throughput.
• Scale up analytical separations to preparative conditions, selecting suitable columns, mobile phases, and sample loading.
• Carry out routine calibration and preventive maintenance of preparative HPLC systems and columns.
2. Analytical & Chiral HPLC Method Development
• Develop and optimize HPLC methods for routine and preparative samples, with particular emphasis on chiral separations.
• Screen chiral columns and conditions to determine enantiomeric purity.
• Work with internal teams and external clients to ensure methods meet project requirements and timelines.
3. HPLC Analysis
• Analyze routine, chiral, and final product samples by HPLC, and report results accurately within agreed timelines.
• Keep HPLC instruments calibrated, maintained, and ready for use.
4. LC-MS and Mass Spectrometry Analysis
• Analyze internal samples by LC-MS, including routine and Certificate of Analysis (COA) samples.
• Analyze external client samples and complete instrument calibrations within scheduled timeframes.

• Interpret mass spectral data to confirm the molecular weight and identity of compounds.
5. Instrument Troubleshooting & Technical Support
• Diagnose and resolve issues on HPLC, preparative HPLC, and LC-MS systems to minimize instrument downtime.
• Guide and support team members on instrument operation, troubleshooting, and good laboratory practice.
6. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate, well-organized calibration and maintenance records for all instruments.
• Manage preparative sample records, HPLC and preparative column logs, and chemical and solvent inventories.
• Follow data integrity principles, SOPs, and applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols, including the safe handling and disposal of solvents and chemicals.
RequirementsQualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, preferably in a CRO or pharmaceutical workplace, with a strong focus on analytical and preparative HPLC.
• Proven track record in preparative HPLC purification, HPLC method development, and routine analysis.
• Hands-on experience with chiral separations and chiral sample analysis.
• Proficiency in operating HPLC, preparative HPLC, and LC-MS / mass spectrometry instruments.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong troubleshooting skills for analytical instruments.
• Working knowledge of chromatography data systems (e.g., Waters Empower (Empower 3), Thermo Fisher Chromeleon (Chromeleon 7.3 / 7.4), Agilent Open Lab CDS).
• Excellent documentation and record-keeping habits, with a sound understanding of data integrity.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, reliable results.
• Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, and communicate technical information clearly.
• Commitment to laboratory safety and quality standards.
