JOB DESCRIPTION – EXECUTIVE, HEAVY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

Department: Fleet Maintenance
Reporting To: Fleet Manager / Maintenance Manager
Experience: 3–5 Years
Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering preferred

Job Purpose

To ensure the proper functioning, safety, and availability of heavy vehicles through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, breakdown management, and coordination with mechanics, workshops, and service providers to minimize vehicle downtime and maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform regular inspections and monitor the maintenance of heavy vehicles, including trucks, trailers, tippers, and other commercial vehicles.
- Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, periodic servicing, oil changes, lubrication, and replacement of worn-out parts.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems related to diesel engines, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, suspension, steering, axles, and electrical systems.
- Coordinate vehicle breakdown repairs at company yards, workshops, and project sites to ensure minimum downtime.
- Monitor tyre condition, air brake systems, batteries, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, and other critical vehicle components.
- Coordinate with mechanics, technicians, authorized service centres, and external workshops for repair and maintenance activities.
- Maintain vehicle-wise records of servicing, repairs, breakdowns, spare-parts consumption, and maintenance expenses.




- Monitor vehicle availability and ensure that vehicles are inspected and safe for operation before deployment.
- Coordinate with vendors and spare-parts suppliers, obtain repair quotations, verify invoices, and monitor repair costs.
- Track vehicle fitness certificates, insurance, permits, pollution certificates, and other applicable statutory documents.
- Analyse recurring breakdowns and recommend corrective actions to improve vehicle reliability and reduce repair expenses.
- Coordinate with drivers, fleet supervisors, and operations teams to address maintenance complaints and repair requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports covering vehicle status, breakdowns, repair costs, and pending jobs.
- Ensure compliance with company maintenance procedures and applicable vehicle safety requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering preferred.
- 3–7years of experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Practical knowledge of diesel engines, transmission systems, air brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and vehicle electrical systems.
- Experience in breakdown management, workshop coordination, and spare-parts management.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance schedules and vehicle inspection procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge, including MS Excel and email.
- Positive communication, coordination, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
