Job Summary

National Public School, Kompally, is seeking an experienced, passionate, and agile English HOD to lead the English department, ensure academic excellence, and promote strong language, communication, reading, writing, and literary skills among students. The candidate will be responsible for curriculum planning, teacher mentoring, academic monitoring, and implementing effective teaching methodologies aligned with the school's academic standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership

- Lead and manage the English department across the assigned grades.
- Develop annual academic plans, lesson plans, and curriculum delivery schedules.
- Ensure effective implementation of the prescribed curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Monitor syllabus completion, academic progress, and student performance.
- Maintain consistency in teaching standards, assessments, and evaluation practices.

2. Teaching and Learning

- Demonstrate excellent English language proficiency, grammar, vocabulary, and literary knowledge.
- Guide teachers in adopting innovative, student-centric teaching methodologies.
- Promote reading habits, creative writing, public speaking, debate, and communication skills.




- Observe classroom sessions and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Support students who require additional academic assistance.

3. Team Management and Teacher Development

- Mentor, supervise, and support English faculty members.
- Conduct departmental meetings, training sessions, and academic review meetings.
- Identify professional development needs and facilitate teacher training.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

4. Assessment and Academic Monitoring

- Coordinate the preparation of question papers, worksheets, assignments, and examinations.
- Review assessment quality, answer scripts, and evaluation standards.
- Analyse student results and develop improvement plans.
- Maintain academic records, reports, and departmental documentation.

5. Co-curricular Activities

- Organise English-related activities such as debates, elocution, spelling bees, quizzes, creative writing, and literary events.
- Encourage participation in inter-school competitions and language enrichment programmes.
- Support school assemblies, annual functions, and other academic initiatives.

6. Parent and School Coordination





- Communicate student progress and academic concerns to parents when required.
- Coordinate with the Principal, academic coordinators, and other HODs.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, academic calendars, and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Postgraduate degree in English (M.A. English) is Preferred
- B.Ed. qualification preferred or required as per applicable school norms.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a reputed CBSE school.
- Prior experience as an English HOD, coordinator, or senior English teacher is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, planning, and classroom observation skills.
- Good knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment design, and student-centred pedagogy.
- Proficiency in academic documentation and digital teaching tools.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
