Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Performance Test Lead to lead a performance readiness engagement for a SaaS workflow platform serving approximately 3,000 users. The application is built on .NET microservices, hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and uses Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus, and React.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Apache JMeter, workload modelling, performance benchmarking, and Azure-based application monitoring. The candidate will be responsible for rebuilding the existing test suite, validating system performance up to 2.5 times peak load, identifying bottlenecks, and delivering a comprehensive performance readiness report to client IT leadership.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess and improve existing JMeter test suites, test environments, and load generator configurations.
- Build realistic workload models using Azure Application Insights, KQL, and Microsoft Clarity.
- Define performance benchmarks and pass/fail criteria for response times (p90/p95/p99), error rates, throughput, and database CPU utilization.
- Develop and execute performance test plans covering 50% to 250% of peak load, including load, stress, soak, and spike testing.
- Design and execute distributed JMeter testing using controllers and workers, including JVM heap tuning and non-GUI execution.
- Perform root cause analysis of performance bottlenecks using Azure Application Insights, AKS metrics, and Azure SQL monitoring.
- Troubleshoot SQL Server/Azure SQL performance issues, including Query Store, wait statistics, and connection pooling.
- Prepare detailed benchmark reports, prioritized remediation backlogs, and evidence-based performance readiness statements.




- Develop performance testing runbooks and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions.
- Present progress updates and performance findings to client IT leadership on a bi-weekly basis.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience in QA, with at least 4 years leading performance and load testing for web applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of Apache JMeter, including correlation, parameterization, pacing, distributed execution, and non-GUI testing.
- Experience performance-testing applications secured with OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Hands-on experience with Azure Application Insights, Microsoft Clarity, and Kusto Query Language (KQL).
- Strong expertise in diagnosing SQL Server/Azure SQL bottlenecks, including Query Store, wait statistics, and connection pools.
- Experience developing realistic workload models using production telemetry and analytics.
- Ability to establish performance SLAs, define measurable acceptance criteria, and analyze results against agreed thresholds.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience preparing executive-level performance reports and presenting technical findings to leadership.

Preferred / Valuable-to-Have Skills

- Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) performance monitoring.
- Performance testing of applications using message queues, Azure Service Bus, SignalR, or WebSockets.
- Playwright and Lighthouse.
- Azure DevOps.
- ISTQB Performance Testing certification.
