Job Summary

Deshpande and Co is looking for a motivated and driven Junior Advocate to join our banking litigation and recovery practice. The ideal candidate will assist in handling legal matters for banks and financial institutions, primarily focusing on debt recovery, corporate insolvency, and financial disputes across various courts and tribunals in Mumbai.

Key Responsibilities

- Litigation Support: Draft and review plaints, written statements, applications, appeals, and rejoinders for matters related to DRT (Debt Recovery Tribunal), SARFAESI Act, IBC (Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code), and Section 138 (Cheque Bounce) cases.
- Court Appearances: Appear, represent clients, and manage daily board proceedings before the DRT, NCLT, Small Causes Courts, Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, and the Bombay High Court.
- Documentation & Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive title search reports,



property due diligence, and draft/vet loan and security documentation.
- Case Management: Maintain case files, track daily cause lists, schedule hearings, and coordinate regularly with clients regarding case updates and legal strategies.
- Research: Perform in-depth legal research on evolving banking regulations, RBI guidelines, and landmark judgments.

Qualifications & Skills

- Education: LL.B. or B.A. LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
- Experience: 0-3 years of active legal practice (experience in banking litigation or recovery is highly preferred).
- Bar Enrollment: Valid enrollment with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa.
- Core Knowledge: Familiarity with the SARFAESI Act, RDDBFI Act, IBC, Negotiable Instruments Act, and the Civil Procedure Code (CPC).
- Languages: Solid written and verbal communication skills in English and Marathi.
- Location: Must be comfortable commuting daily to our office in Fort, Mumbai, and traveling to local courts as required.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
