After-Hours Freight Coordinator (US Night Desk) – Remote, Mumbai North Forrest Freight · powered by SPI Logistics Independent contractor · Full-time · USD 7,000–8,000/year

About the Role North Forrest Freight is a US freight brokerage agency under SPI Logistics (MC#253915). We don't own trucks. We find, vet and manage the trucking companies that move our customers' freight. Much of that freight is hard to handle: frozen food that must stay at −10°F all the way to Walmart distribution centers, and container chassis moved as stacked rolling units or flatbed cargo, including into Canada. Our trucks run around the clock, so we're hiring full-time coordinators in India to run our overnight desk while the US team sleeps.

Schedule: During Training (depending on when your training takes place)

- November - March: 18:30 - 03:30 IST (08:00 - 17:00 US Eastern)
- March - November: 17:30 - 02:30 IST (08:00 - 17:00 US Eastern)

Daytime Hours in India, No Night Shift

- March - November: 08:30 - 17:30 IST (23:00 - 08:00 US Eastern)
- November - March: 09:30 AM - 18:30 PM IST (23:00 - 08:00 US Eastern)
- Five shifts a week on a published rotation. Shifts are 9-hours and include an hour break.
- Two coordinators cover all seven nights, so your rotation will include some weekend days.
- Your hours shift by one hour twice a year when the US changes its clocks.

What You'll Do

- Monitor loads in transit: Track every truck against its delivery appointment and flag any that will miss.
- Handle overnight problems: Breakdowns, failed refrigeration units and late drivers. Follow the written procedure, record what you did, and escalate urgent issues right away.
- Collect and check paperwork: Get proof of delivery, bills of lading and load photos from drivers, check them for errors, and upload them.
- Close out delivered loads: Close loads in our transportation system (Revenova, built on Salesforce) so they're ready to invoice.
- Take carrier calls: At first, record details for the day desk.



Once trained and signed off, qualify, vet and book simple loads yourself using our negotiation framework.
- Hand off at 8:00 AM Eastern: Write a summary for the US morning team covering what moved, what's at risk and what needs attention first.

What We're Looking For

- Clear spoken English. You'll be on the phone with US truck drivers, often on poor connections.
- Strong reliability. Being consistently present matters most in this role.
- Good judgment when no one is available to ask: make a sensible call, write down why, and escalate when it's truly urgent.
- Strong attention to detail. Don't repeat avoidable mistakes, and never hide one.
- Complete honesty. Dishonesty, such as altering tracking updates, concealing missed appointments or ghosting carriers, is grounds for ending the engagement.

Workspace Requirements

- Stable wired internet (30 Mbps or more) plus a backup connection
- Backup power to finish a shift through an outage
- A quiet space with no background noise
- Your own computer and a quality headset

Nice to Have (Not Required)

- Logistics, freight, dispatch or 3PL experience, especially US freight-BPO work
- Familiarity with computers and navigating different programs
- Familiarity with VoIP telecommunications systems
- Experience in a US-facing role working independently across time zones

You supply your own computer and workspace. There is no equipment allowance.

Pay and Time Off

- USD 7,000–8,000 a year, depending on experience, paid in USD every two weeks (26 payments a year)
- 8 paid holidays: Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, Maharashtra Day and 3 floating days of your choice. If a holiday falls on a weekend, you get a floating day instead
- Leave encashment to be paid as annual bonus
- Vacation: 5 paid days in year one, 10 in year two
- Sick days are monitored but don't count against your vacation
- Your rate is reviewed at 90 days
- Room to grow: reliable coordinators take on more of the desk, and we promote from this group first. As we expand, current positions will open up as well.
