Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and multi-disciplinary Senior Aerospace Engineer with specialized expertise in both Avionics Systems Integration and Structural Mechanics/Design. In this role, you will lead the cross-functional engineering efforts required to architect, analyze, and integrate complex avionics packages into advance airframe structures. You will be responsible for ensuring that all structural modifications, electrical harness routings, and electronic hardware packaging comply with strict airworthiness and structural integrity standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Structural Design & Mechanical Analysis

- Lead 3D CAD modeling and detailing of airframe primary/secondary structures, brackets, enclosures, and avionics mounting systems.
- Perform static, dynamic, fatigue, and vibration analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations.
- Ensure all structural modifications maintain structural margin and comply with extreme environment (thermal, shock, vibration) requirements.
- Select appropriate aerospace-grade materials (composites, aluminum, titanium) balancing strength, weight, and manufacturability.

2. Avionics Architecture & Hardware Integration

- Architect and integrate onboard avionics systems, including flight control computers, navigation units (GPS/INS), sensors, power distribution, and communication buses (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN).
- Design electrical wire harness routing, connector interfaces, and shielding for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) compliance.




- Collaborate with embedded software and systems teams to define interface control documents (ICDs) and hardware-software integration testing plans.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Airworthiness

- Prepare engineering documentation, stress reports, and compliance matrices for FAA/EASA certification or military airworthiness authority approval (DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254).
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) non-conformance reviews, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Engineering Release (ER) documentation.
- Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR) as the primary subject matter expert for avionics-structural interfaces.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.

Experience

8+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace structural design and/or avionics packaging and systems integration.

CAD / FEA Tools

Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE, NX, or Creo) and FEA software (NASTRAN, Abaqus, or ANSYS).

Avionics & Standards

In-depth understanding of RTCA DO-160 environmental testing standards, DO-254/DO-178 processes, and MIL-STD guidelines.

Manufacturing Knowledge

Demonstrated understanding of GD&T; (ASME Y14.5), sheet metal fabrication, machining, composite layup, and harness assembly methods.

Preferred Qualifications

- Active Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one (for defense aerospace roles).
- Experience with eVTOL, UAV/UAS, or space launch vehicle development programs.
- Design experience with thermal management for high-density avionics hardware.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering frameworks (SysML, Model-Based Systems Engineering)
