Job Description: HR Technology Functional SME

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced HR Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide domain knowledge and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for a product development team building an end-to-end Hire-to-Retire HR technology platform for mid-sized and enterprise organizations.

The SME will help team members with limited or no prior HR knowledge understand HR fundamentals, real-world HR processes, and regional practices, with a primary focus on the US and Canadian markets.

Key Responsibilities

- Explain HR fundamentals, the HR technology ecosystem, and the end-to-end employee lifecycle.

- Share in-depth knowledge of US and Canadian HR practices, including relevant compliance considerations and regional differences.

- Cover Core HR processes, employee data management, organizational structures, legal entities, and HR policies.

- Explain onboarding, offboarding, employee document management, approval workflows, and payroll fundamentals.

- Introduce key HR personas, including employees, managers, HR Business Partners, HR Operations teams, and HR Managers, along with their roles and responsibilities.

- Provide foundational insights into related HR capabilities, such as shift management, compensation management, and workforce management.





- Use practical industry examples to explain common HR challenges, business requirements, and how HR technology supports HR operations.

- Conduct structured, interactive knowledge-sharing sessions, helping the team understand HR processes and their application in real-world scenarios.

Required Skills and Experience

- Significant experience in HR operations, HR functional consulting, HR transformation, or a related domain.

- In-depth understanding of HR practices and operational requirements in the US and Canadian markets.

- Strong functional knowledge of Core HR and the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee data management, and payroll fundamentals.

- Familiarity with enterprise HR systems such as Workday, Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG, ADP, or similar platforms.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain HR concepts to audiences with no prior HR domain knowledge.

- Part time engagement focused on functional domain education and knowledge sharing.

- Sessions planned around the team's learning needs and agreed HR topics.
