Product Development Engineer – Toys

Role Summary

Support the development of current toy products from concept and sampling through specification, costing, and production readiness. The role involves evaluating materials and manufacturing processes, coordinating with vendors and overseas factories, and helping ensure that products meet the required quality, safety, cost, and delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare clear product specifications, drawings, material details, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing instructions for new products.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop suitable vendors and manufacturing partners for new projects and product categories.
- Coordinate sampling and evaluate materials, components, finishes, manufacturing processes, and design tolerances against the product brief.
- Review samples and identify potential design, quality, safety, and production issues; coordinate troubleshooting and follow-up actions before mass production.
- Define product quality checkpoints, inspection criteria, and relevant safety requirements, and communicate them clearly to vendors and internal teams.
- Recommend practical product or process improvements to enhance functionality, play value, manufacturability, quality, or cost.
- Prepare complete product information—including specifications, material details, components, packaging requirements, and sample references—for costing partners.
- Coordinate with overseas factories and internal teams to track samples, resolve queries, monitor development timelines, and support on-time production readiness.




- Maintain organized product-development records, sample status, specifications, and project updates.

Skills & Personal Attributes

- Good written and verbal English communication, with the ability to explain product requirements clearly.
- Good coordination and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with vendors, factories, and cross-functional teams.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, production methods, and quality requirements.
- Analytical and practical problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Flexible and open to change, willing to learn, and proactive in suggesting new ideas.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and follow up on timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience: 0–3 years; fresh graduates with a strong interest in product development may be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Production, or related disciplines are preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Interest in toys, consumer products, materials, product sampling, and manufacturing is an advantage.

Role Focus

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable coordinating between product requirements, vendors, costing, quality, and manufacturing to help move new toy products from development to production.
